I would call expecting the children of our 'leaders' to act responsibly (however you define that) - setting yourself up for disappointment. Look at what your dollar (no longer) buys and you have all you need to know about 'responsible leadership'.

I stand behind that mom who is standing behind her daugther. I know how hard it is to raise kids this day and time. You can tell them what right and wrong, but the final decision is theirs. I know some good parents who have had hard times with their children. but you have to still encourage them to do better.

I'm not really into politics and tend to keep my opinions on the subject to myself, but I agree with chowchow. I don't believe that her daughter getting pregnant reflects badly on her parenting skills. Teens will do what they want. You can encourage them to act and behave in a certain way, and you can hope that they will show good judgment, but at the end of the day, they have their own minds and will do what they want. Sometimes, pressure from other teens and society has kids/teens doing things that aren't necessarily right. However, not every single thing a teen does is a reflection on ones parent. I know from my own experience that when I was young, I did things that I knew I probably shouldn't do and it didn't mean my mom was a horrible parent. It meant I was young, had my own mind and wanted to do things my way.

Well now the good thing is the baby is going to be born. Control freaks the repubs are not, it is their family and it looks like this baby will be the first grandchild of the first vice president grandmother.

Since their is no perfect places, people nor things. I hate to say but I'm glad something like this happened to such an impressionable person. Just maybe now everyday parents might be able to get more help and resources with preventing their teenagers from becoming with child.
