Alaska's largest newspaper endorses Barack Obama

~Sunday 10/26/2008~

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Anchorage Daily News, Alaska's largest newspaper, has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for president.

The newspaper said Sunday the Democrat "brings far more promise to the office. In a time of grave economic crisis, he displays thoughtful analysis, enlists wise counsel and operates with a cool, steady hand."

The Daily News said since the economic crisis has emerged, Republican presidential candidate John McCain has "stumbled and fumbled badly" in dealing with it.

"Of the two candidates, Sen. Obama better understands the mortgage meltdown's root causes and has the judgment and intelligence to shape a solution, as well as the leadership to rally the country behind it," the paper said.

The Daily News said Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has shown the country why she is a success as governor. But the paper said few would argue that Palin is truly ready to step into the job of being president despite her passion, charisma and strong work ethic.

"Gov. Palin's nomination clearly alters the landscape for Alaskans as we survey this race for the presidency — but it does not overwhelm all other judgment. The election, after all is said and done, is not about Sarah Palin, and our sober view is that her running mate, Sen. John McCain, is the wrong choice for president at this critical time for our nation," the paper said.

"Like picking Sen. McCain for president, putting her one 72-year-old heartbeat from the leadership of the free world is just too risky at this time," the paper concluded.

AceKicka's about to sound off:

Looks like Sista Sarah is NOT such a great pick after all, huh? Behind the scenes in-fighting, accusations & finger-pointing are derailing the straight talk express.

The Elitist Diva's determined to do things HER way, after all she's "got NOTHING to lose." Did she ever release her medical records? She did herself NO favor by appearing on Saturday Night Live. This contest is NOT American idol - she looked like an American idiot in my opinion. She did this for her own gain...and J Mac fell for it.

But of course Big Mac's not worried about it at all - "he has Obama right where he wants him." How in the world did the field of Republican candidates allow this to happen? 'Cain was broke, busted and in NO WAY to be trusted. And before he even had one ad to air. Where did all those millions go? Does anybody know?

I still want to know where all the missing billion$ of our money ended up on their way to war. Speaking of the REAL WAR - the Afghanistan war should've been wrapped up in about 2 years, tops. But something funny happened on the way to gettin' the job done.

And who in da hell is keeping up with all the newly printed monopoly money these days? Surely, no one is slipping themselves a little on the slide, right? Is money even worth much of anything anymore? Well as SHAFT would say -- "YA DAMN RIGHT!"

But what's the point if every country in the world prints all the 'liquidity' that they possibly can? What good did it do to hand Paulson a blank check "within 48 hours"? All they needed was permission to continue doing what they were already doing. The market crashed anyway, wiping out TRILLION$ of $$ of value along with retirement plans, hopes and dreams.

'We're gonna buy all the bad debt" - first of all that sounds a little too close to $$$$ laundering in my book. Now it's quite a different story.

What we're witnessing is called PAYBACK for all the incompetence, and COWBOY diplomacy carried out in the past 8 years. The pendulum swings in both directions. What will all the Bushies have to say if just a fraction of what we've been through happens under Obama? How many chances will Obama have to screw up? Does he get to be graded on a curve like Bush?

(I see that they finally hauled in Alan "Mr. Bubble" Greenspan for a little Q&A - that's a start.)

True. It's going to be gray skies for this entire country if Obama is elected.
