Nice article from one who realizes that there is nothing to do now but complain, since the world didn't end now that Barack H. Obama is the President-elect.

I suppose everyone who was against Obama should look back 8 years to see what the liberals did after Al Gore lost. We should all act like they did.

In a way this will be fun to have the shoe on the other foot. Now everything is the fault of Barack Obama.

If there's a big storm, if the stock market crashes, if your favorite football team loses -- it's all Obama's fault. Sweet!

Todd, I don't quite understand what you mean. When Bill Clinton took office following Bush #41, there was a deficit and unemployment was high. During his term as president, he erased that deficit and the stock market soared. Unemployment was low and our economy was booming. Then Bush #43 took office and ....well, we all know what the past 8 years have been like. We are in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

I wish the Pubs would give it a rest. I stayed away so everyone could spread the smears, since this is not my web site. But now that the country has overwhelmingly chosen the best candidate, I don't understand all the negative comments.

For months I've heard great Americans praise Obama. Colin Powell, whom I've seen anti-Obama people on this board praise many times, endorsed Obama. Suddenly it was because he was Black, not because he is one of the most respected men in America. Other Republicans like Charles Fried, Solicitor General of the United States under Reagan and Scott McClellan, Former Press Secretary to President George W. Bush also endorsed Obama along with Douglas Kmiec, Head of the Office of Legal Counsel under Reagan & Bush-41, Francis Fukuyama, Advisor to President Reagan, Rita Hauser, Former White House intelligence advisor under George W. Bush, George C. Lodge, Assistant Secretary of Labor under President Eisenhower and so many more Republicans who served under Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford and Bush. Then there were the Republican mayors and governors who endorsed Obama, people like Jim Whitaker of Fairbanks AK and former Governor William Weld of MA and Richard Riordan, former Mayor of Los Angeles and...... the list goes on and on and on. Warren Buffet has been mentioned numerous times on LP as someone who is an icon for investors, yet his opinion doesn't seem to matter any more. Many of the greatest political minds of our time have endorsed Barack Obama and he is not afraid to turn to them for advice. He has a long struggle ahead of him and do we too, so we need to unite.

That is why I don't get it - why people are people so angry, so stubborn, so lost in darkness, that they won't step forward into the light and join everyone in celebration? Peace to all. God Bless America everyone.

Actually, I found the article to be very close to my own opinion. Obama is an unknown. He has been given a pass by not only his followers, but by the media. Hoodwinked. Bamboozled. It remains to be seen what kind of President he will be. His history is very far left of center, very liberal. His campaign stayed close to the center. I think he is probably one of the smartest Presidents we have had. But it remains to be seen if he will use that intelligence to understand he cannot move too far left of center without causing major damage to the Democrat party. Americans, as a rule, are not left of center.

This election was not of Obama himself as much as it was an election of the first black President, a great orator, and a smack down on George W Bush. The Obama campaign ran like the most efficient well oiled machine. They did an excellent job. McCain's campaign, on the other hand, ran like an old broken down jalopy, jerking along down the road with no purpose. The people who ran McCain's campaign aught to be run out of politics.

justxploring - let me help you understand what Todd was saying:

The stock market took an almost 500 point nosedive today. It is Obama's fault. Traders have begun dumping their stocks in order to avoid Obama's proposed increase in capital gains taxes.

I am proud that my country has overcome racism to elect it's first black President. I do not agree with Obama's politics. I can only hope that in two years we will be introducing the new Republican Party - the one that is firmly on the right and firmly conservative. Dammit, where's Newt?

It will be slightly entertaining to watch the dems squirm and justify the new prez's *expansion* of all the programs and laws they "hated" under the repubs... in addition to a new tax for "carbon credits" and a stasi-style "youth brigade".

hmmmmmmmmm, not his fault until Jan. 21, 2009.........this mess still falls under the present administration!................. and even then...this mess is SOOOOOOO BIGGG fingers will not be pointed at Pres. elect until the people feel that time has been given to fix something he did not create. And I do believe it is sad that people allow themselves to be labeled and wear it like some badge and then attempt to demean someone whose "badge" is different. People have allowed themselves to be boxed in by the media and dictate to them what is moral and right. It is the media that places fear in people's minds and hearts.....racism by far is much alive............sad, so many people waiting for him to fail.......

Let's stop changing reality and time to suit our "box-purposes". Today's problems were not created tomorrow, they were created yesterday.   6 out of 10 Americans think we're heading towards a depression. Obama was elected two days ago. You can't create a depression overnight. Anyone who blames Obama for this mess now or fifty years from now is an absolute fool.
