Socialism

True, which is why Obama's tax plan isn't socialism. He has worked hard to get where he is and expects others to do the same. He never said "give money to lazy people." Read my blog tonight. I mentioned that Medicare, Social Security and other programs are all part of Socialism.

In fact, Ronald Reagan's famous words against socialism (which Sarah Palin quoted in the VP debate) were from a speech denouncing Medicare. At a rally in 1980 Jimmy Carter said
"Social Security—the Democrats put it forward; the Republicans called it socialism, communism. Medicare, a Democratic program—my opponent got his start in politics campaigning all around the country speaking against Medicare, calling it socialized medicine."

Thank you Emily.

Another famous saying that has run through my mind many times during this campaign is:

"Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it."

Socialism is government implemented poverty consciousness.

Thank you Em! A tax plan makes not socialism. The dems in charge of three branches of govt. makes socialism. Just wait until they start stomping on free speech, private property rights, social issues, free markets, and individuality. Look across the pond to Europe and see what socialism has wrought.

Jarasan, if the Democrats are the majority, it is because the the people voted for them. Are you saying that to keep everything fair & balanced, we should change our way of selecting elected officials? For many years the Republicans had the majority, but suddenly you call it socialism when it's turned around.   I just don't get it I guess. Over 65 million people said yes we can and you are saying no you can't because it's not what you want, it's not what you think. I guess we have different definitions of freedom & democracy.

Governmental stuff moves slowly, just because someone was in office when something went wrong doesn't mean they or their policies set it into motion.

The fall of our capitalist economic system was set into motion back in the late 60's by anti-American leftist and has been expanded exponentially by the left aided by rinos. Myopia however blinds people to what's taken place right before their eyes.

@JX: Enjoy what freedoms you have while you still can. And just to remind everyone here and PLEASE correct me if I am wrong. The USAmerican system of governance is called a "Representative republic" and is not a democracy. Millions of people didn't vote and the ones that could and didn't, is because they are cruising along and don't have time to care. Since 2006 when the Dems took congress it has gone downhill from there and the angle of the hill is going increase and is going to affect everyone severly and they won't be able to blame Bush next time around.

The media elected Obama, the people went along, no harm no foul. They've been trashing Bush for 9 years, and it finally worked. Democracy, yeah right, McCain/Feingold came right back and bit McCain, reaching across the aisle and his own dysfunctionality within his own party lost him the race. Beware of Dems bearing gifts and don't let your children grow up to be Dems.

United we stand, divided we fall. Children should choose to be whatever they want to be when they grow up, Democrat, Republican, Independent, or none of the above. As long as they make up their own mind and not be persuaded by those who chose to divide a nation.

It is so nice to see that now we are going to be united with the dems in charge. I can't wait for them to reach across the aisle and form a kanga line around the house and senate floors. I think you might want to ask Joe Lieberman about being united again with his good friend Harry Reid.

The bottom line...and at the end of the day - Government should work for the people - all people and if it does not - it's no good. The policies and laws have to be equitable.

You can call it whatever name you want to.

@Jarasan: You are right!

Funny how when Bush was elected these same people weren't talking about unity. All the unity talk is a bunch of garbage if you don't say the same thing when the other side wins. And they don't. The B.S. meter is off the charts.

Republicans like McCain have tried for decades to reach across the aisle, and look where it got them: on the heap of ridiculed conservatives. I wrote years ago about how McCain had better watch his step when reaching out to Democrats, and when trying to be "liked" by the media. Because as soon as he became the Republican candidate, he became enemy #1, no matter how many times they said how great he was before.

(The only reason they said he was great was because he would go against Republicans.)

Get over yourselves and use the values and morals that we are giving everyone here the benefit of the doubt that you were raised with. From there you can do what needs to be done to get this country where the majority feels it should be. But the people have spoken, just like they do every election and they felt the country was going IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, so they made the changes they saw fit!!

Well said NBey6. The polls clearly showed that the voters felt the country was headed the wrong way and they voted the opposite of that direction. Isn't "Free Will" grand.
