Drudge Report Update
Published:
For those of you who rely on the Drudge Report for your "news" here are the missing paragraphs from the story he copied/pasted (and gave no credit) from yesterday's Ria Novosti article "Russian Analyst Predicts Decline And Breakup Of USA".
"On the fate of the U.S. dollar, he said: "In 2006 a secret agreement was reached between Canada, Mexico and the U.S. on a common Amero currency as a new monetary unit. This could signal preparations to replace the dollar. The one-hundred dollar bills that have flooded the world could be simply frozen. Under the pretext, let's say, that terrorists are forging them and they need to be checked."
When asked how Russia should react to his vision of the future, Panarin said: "Develop the ruble as a regional currency. Create a fully functioning oil exchange, trading in rubles... We must break the strings tying us to the financial Titanic, which in my view will soon sink."
This wasn't a mistake because he included the last sentence that followed these paragraphs in the original Ria Novosti article.
Someone here at LP suggested I check out Matt Drudge's site for a good source of news. I don't think so. When a news outlet shapes the news by editing it to convey the viewpoint the outlet wants, it is not a good source of news, it is propaganda. (Fox News?) Plus it is terrible form for a journalist not to give credit to the original source of their news articles that they are printing verbatim.
The original article appears here: http://en.rian.ru/world/20081124/118512713.html

News reporting is a very subtle way to influence public opinion. One must hunt for all the facts because the journalists are not providing them as they should.

That's why I've taken to spelling MSM coverage as "faux newz". 'We distort. You comply.' :-)
