New Madrid Earthquake?

I was going to blog about this subject the other day but decided not to.  The WEB BOT project that I mentioned in a previous blog predicts two major earthquakes in December.  One in S. America and one in N. America.  One to happen in the 12th to 14th range and another a couple days later.  The latitude for the N.A. one is 32 -36 degrees range.  The US army just finished an exercise entailing a major quake in Calif.  FEMA just  finished a threat assessment of a major quake along the New Madrid fault line.  This got me studying eathquakes in N.A., specifically eastern US and particularly the New Madrid fault.  Earthquake activity has increased markedly since 2000 in the eastern US.  We even had one near Chicago a while back.  These have all been moderate earthquakes but they reach the threshold of reporting by the USGS.  The New Madrid earthquake of 1811 was an 8.1 on the scale.  It happened on a Dec. 11th.  (Many earthquakes happen around the spring equinox and the winter solstice).  It was followed by another major one in early 1812.  All of these things got me thinking about the overdue New Madrid fault line activity.  I saw this article today and it sent a chill up my spine.

I guess you'd call this a prediction, warning or paranoid delusion.  Hope I'm wrong.  At any rate it's a heads up.  It doesn't hurt to have extra water and food on hand for any crisis, but in the event of a major quake along this fault line, it will damage water and gas pipelines because of the bedrock.  Believe it or not it would even cause structural damage in Chicago in buildings with non-reinforced masonry or wood walls.

rick you want to know something that made the hair on my arm stand up. i was just looking at that story on earthquakes in central arkansas and e-mailed it to my brother.then i log on to lottery post for the first time in days and go to blogs first thing and i see your blog about the earthquake. that was really something.i live right on that fault here in memphis and for the last year or so i can't stop thinking about if we had one here.it would be as bad as katrina was in new orleans if we get hit by a quake here because most aren't prepared and this is a poor area.want to know something even more strange.last year most insurance companies here quit selling insurance for earthquake damage.

Mike, I have been thinking about you regarding this. Your area would be severely affected. Be careful, have a plan just in case.

Mike, get some extra food and water to have on hand. Don't wait for FEMA to come around to help you. Recently I purchased a portable propane heater for my house in case the gas supply and/or electricity was interrupted and we had no heat. The heater would warm up a portion of your home. It uses those screw on propane tanks. I got mine at Home Depot for about 80 bucks.

thanks rick.just a few years ago i never would've imagined some of the things that are happening or about to happen.at the beginning of this decade pre 9/11 most people did think differently than they did afterwards.ever since 9/11,the iraq war,katrina,the current economic crisis not to mention some of the crazy laws passed the last few years makes one definitely think we might be entering a very frightening period where no one knows exactly what is going to happen.there are going to be a couple huge things happen that are disasters here very soon i think that are going to make people even more uncertain.what those disasters are i don't know but there is a feeling in the air that unsettles me.i know others have this feeling too.....

Mike, they have created a climate of constant fear in order to control and divide us. The best defense is to turn off the propaganda machine (TV) and enjoy each day to its fullest. F#ck 'em...we have better things to do than hide under our beds.

The earth sits on tectonic plates its a know fact. These plates move all the time and it's a matter of time when the next plate will push or rub another plate enough to cause a major quake. Could happen anywhere and will happen somewhere. There isn't anything we can do about it. Every household should have an emergency plan. Thing is when a quake strikes it's usually happens without a lot of advanced warning.

Hello Rick G...If its the WEB BOT I think you are talking about, then "Cliff Webbot" and George Ure have been pretty accurate with their predictions, especially when dealing with geological events. I first heard of them and their Project on the Alex Merklinger show quite a while ago, and I've been keeping track ever since. I appreciate the streamlined and non-speculative way of presenting their data. George and "Cliff" have always said that their ability to gather data and circumspect future events is foolproof, but their "reading of the tea leaves" may not be as precise. While hoping the earthquake warning is one of those times, preparation is prudent.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't live but a little over twenty miles from New Madrid. As a matter of fact I live only a few blocks
from New Madrid County line. I appreciate your info. I work at the hospital, so I'll let them know.

also noticed something else its almost exactly two hundred years ago that the new madrid quake hit and it was one of the worst quakes in history.when this next one hits its going to be very bad in terms of damage.the media is too worried about crap like britney to try and give the public some info and educate the people to be prepared because most people here have no clue we are sitting right on top of a bad one....

@Kola...Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I can't afford the reports (wish I could) but I read George Ure's daily column at UrbanSurvival.com. Another good source of WEB BOT info is at pimpinturtle.com. He has an archive there.

did anyone else happen to notice? An earthquake in 1811 regiestered 8.1 on Dec 11th. Lol! I must just be a number nut!
