Man Robbed Christmas Store but Left Wallet

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Christmas thief may have thought he'd get away with stealing from North Fort Myers Christmas tree tent, but he forgot one thing...his wallet.

Deputies are looking for 29-year-old Joshua Hess. He's accused of pushing over the tent worker and helping himself to $700 in cash from the register.

It happened just after 3pm Thursday at Uncle Al's Christmas Trees on Pine Island Road, not far from US 41.

Al Mueller, the owner of the tent, tells WINK News in all of his years of owning tree and fireworks tents nothing like this has ever happened.

"It's unbelievable at Christmas, but the economy is so tight, people are so desperate...expect the unexpected," said Mueller.

Not too shocking. Move here and just turn on the news.   Last year someone robbed the Salvation Army warehouse where they keep the toys.   If you have a pet, take a little poop and place it on a map of the US. Then tilt it a bit in either direction. You'll notice that all the muck slowly trickles down to South Florida, usually on the East Coast, but there's an overflow there so the sewers are emptying the sludge on the other side.

By the way, please don't read my post as insensitive to the plight of someone out of work without a hot meal.   I understand what it's like to be struggling. I just don't want people to start blaming the economy for every crime, which is what I've seen lately. There have always been tough times and somehow people get through them without committing violent crimes.

I know that I've said this b4. "If you don't work you will steal and that might be the day that you have your last meal." Everyday is a day to educate and we are the decisions that we make. Also I have a confession so many us have been living in a recession but what it leads back too is not enough Perspiration during Preperation to becoming an Inspiration if not in your own life someone else's. Everyday so many of us get up thinking that it's all about self not contributing to their life nor society in a positive way and still can't figure out why they have no increase. Answer to that is so much in life is not about you and what your going through, and w/o a struggle you probably won't build much character.
