Proud To Be White

Published:

Updated:

There are some here at LP that want to make an impact about being African
American, Asian, whatever.

This is my response to being...

PROUD TO BE WHITE

I have been wondering why Whites are racists, and no other race is.

Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good
point.

This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his
comedy act.

He makes some very interesting points...

Someone finally said it... How many are actually paying attention to this?
There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab
Americans, etc. And then there are just Americans. You pass me on the street and
sneer in my direction. You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman'
and that's OK.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you... so why are the ghettos
the most dangerous places to live?

You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day
You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day. You have Yom Hashoah.
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi. You have the NAACP. You have BET...

If we had WET (White Entertainment Television) we'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.
If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives we'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then
we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that??

A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color
can be in the Miss America pageant.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...You know
we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US. Yet if there were
'White colleges' That would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race
and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to
announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer
shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law
and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud...But you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists??

There is nothing improper about this message...

We have lost most of OUR RIGHTS in this country because we won't stand up for ourselves!

BE PROUD TO BE WHITE!

It's not a crime yet, but it's getting very close!

You are majoring in the minor. With millions of people losing their jobs, homes and investments this year your focus is in the wrong place. With our sons and daughters fighting a war thousands of miles away and some of them will never return your focus is in the wrong place. With one country bombing another country and little kids are being blown up your focus is in the wrong way. Looking across the globe and seeing thousands of children starving your focus is in the wrong place.

With the blood of our young people being spilled on the streets of every major city in America your focus is in the wrong place. In some cities and many rural areas an epidemic exist with young people being addicted to drugs especially heroin your focus is in the wrong place.

The Vice-President Elect has guaranteed that some country will test our President-Elect within his first 120 days in Office your focus is in the wrong place. I say to you that I could care less about your skin color I only care about your character and what you are doing to serve humanity and make a difference.

Look around in your community and become a positive role model for the world to see.

So are you saying that only blacks shoot, rob and carjack. That's just like someone saying only whites make moonshine and meth are you serious. As for the police who go overboard on the black wrong doers of the world. 9x's out of 10 it is racist but they also committ the same offenses on other lower caliber races even of there on persuasion and lately alot of them have been turning on there own families. What makes this message improper is that it is very stereotypical and shallow with so much other stuff going on in the world today. For the record it sounds as if you are crying wolf on something that your ancestors started and is still continuing today. You have a right to feel just what you are feeling but please don't forget the nature at hand just how blacks got to this native land, and how the white man occured it. Remeber everyday is a day to educate and we are the decisions that we make. Everybody needs somebody and if we bleed it's all the same color underneath.

trusee and ICNUMBERS; You don't have a clue who I am, what I am, or anything about me personally. You both make arrogant remarks about me personally and suggest what I should be doing with my life. You have no right to suggest anything concerning what others should feel and think. I suppose it is totally correct for another member here to suggest that all states, country's, and whatever jump in and provide educational opportunities for only African Americans, Arabs, Asians, etc., and not once consider any opportunity for the White's that have worked to provide education and opportunity for EVERYONE in this and other country's.

Read the statement for what it is, not for what you want to make out of it.

I prefer to be referred to as an "infidel". As an infidel I can be any color or race and feel right at home with all my infidel friends. As an infidel I can believe freely whatever I wish among my fellow infidels. As an infidel I can debauch or celebrate as I please with my closest infidels. And finally, I will always watch my fellow infidels' back as they will watch my infidel back, because infidels don't care what, who, whatever you believe in or worship, as infidels we've managed to get beyond race, religion, and color. Do you now, "see" why we are called infidels?

Article II of the Constitution sets the principal qualifications to be eligible for election as President. A presidential candidate must:

be a natural-born citizen of the United States;
be at least thirty-five years old;
have been a permanent resident in the United States for at least fourteen years.

the Constitution does not require a presidential candidate to have experience.

I forgot to say, I don't like those titles either (cracker, honky, etc..) They can call us that until they are blue in the face and no one will say anything to them. They will have some cheering them on. But say the N word ANYWHERE and see how fast you get slammed, possibly even fired, and definitely ridaculed. It is no more derogatory than the words they use. Heck, for that matter, THEY use the N word to describe each other too ! "Beaners" call each other a few choice words too. I don't like any of those words because they are just words to belittle someone. People figure if they can belittle others they make themselves superior. It works in high schools, but we're old enough to think for ourselves aren't we? And I would like to believe that America has moved on from all of that anyway, no matter what race you are.

I am white. I am proud. And I don't believe in discrimination. I have my prejudices, everyone does I don't care what they say. But acting on them is no uglier if you are white than if you are black, yellow, red, etc.. I have to agree with LottoVantage.

Whenever I hear those words, I want to ask "Who? Humans?"

The world will be a better place when there is just an "us" or a "we."

I have no prejudices. As an American, albeit I am white and proud to be white, I believe in equality and justice for all. Is there some reason I should be ashamed of my heritage?

I am black and I consider myself just an American because I was born in America, however, whenever I fill out applications I am asked what race I am. On those applications there is also a box for causacians or whites as well as Black, Indian, Hispanic, Asian, etc. There is no box for just American. Therefore, everyone is distinguished by race. I don't consider myself a African American. According to the Bible I am Black.
As far as the ghettos being the most dangerous places to live,
it's not. There are white neighborhoods just as dangerous to try to live in if you are not white yourself. Some of those neighborhoods you will be murdered in just for being black just because they don't want you there. One that I know for sure is in Milwaukee. If you go there you wont get out and you don't have to do anything. All you have to do is be there
and not be white. Had there been fairness in the first place in America there would not have been a need for a United Negro College Fund or Martin Luther King day cause he would probably still be alive if a white man had not killed him. As for Black history month and all the other things you mentioned, it ocurred out of unfairness to certain groups of people. The NAACP was organized because of violated rights of minorities.
The Black Chamber of Commerce is supported by tax payers, as is the white one. And BET has been sold and is owned by a white man. I don't even watch the crap they have on there.
All the above was produced because of racism and unfairness.
As for carjackers, drug-dealers, gang members etc. in America, Who do you think flies it in? Not poor black people, they don't own any planes. Who do you think they sell it for? Look at Wall Street corruption and Washington, Congress, etc, etc, etc. Corruption started in the high places and worked its way to the bottom in the Bush Administration instead of wealth. That's why the world is in the condition it's in. No one is any better than anyone else I don't care what color we all are, we are all in the same boat brother.   And that's what scripture tells us. We all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God and only He can save us. " The only thing any of us should be proud of being is SAVED!"

LottoVantage:
I can see your point, and I even agree with you to an extent. While I believe everyone in this racially diverse country has the right to take pride in his or her heritage, I also believe we all have a responsibility to temper that pride with tolerance and maybe just a dash of sensitivity.
Personally, I don't subscribe to the notion of being "politically correct" when addressing people of other races. I had the opportunity to visit Canada a couple of years ago, and the thought struck me (in a comical way) that the black people I saw there would be offended if I had referred to them as "African-Americans," but I was equally certain that many visiting Americans actually make that mistake, not just in Canada, but in any other country to which they might travel. There were Asian people there, too, but I was only there for a couple of days, and I didn't see any "Mexican-Canadians," although I'm sure they're also represented in Canada's population.
The United Negro College Fund was founded in 1944, by a veterinarian named Dr. Frederick Patterson. I'm sure you'll agree that, in 1944, Black people in America were denied the same opportunities that were openly available to whites. In fact, just two decades earlier, it had been illegal for Blacks to attend college, so the UNCF was formed to provide an education to those who couldn't otherwise afford it. Today, the UNCF offers scholarships to 39 private (but historically Black) colleges. They also fund scholarships, through private donations, to other universities, but before you envy them, consider that the income requirements are very, very stringent. According to Wikipedia, 62% of those who were awarded scholarships in 2005 had a family income of less than $25,000. I don't care what color your skin might be, you couldn't afford to go to college AND pay your bills AND raise your family on that amount of money.
We don't need a United White College Fund, because Caucasian-Americans of all income levels have vast, almost limitless scholarships available to them in every field of study. Nor do we need a White Entertainment Network; the entertainment industry in this country is openly dominated by Whites. As for White Pride Day, if you can find a hundred White people here who can prove their heritage from 300 years in the past, you might have enough to form a parade, although I doubt it would get much press coverage. The vast majority of Whites in America who bother to trace their roots will find their ancestors lived in European countries. Despite what most people believe, America's roots began in 1604, three years before the settlement of Jamestown, and we brought our Black slaves with us.
I don't believe any race is superior to another and, by that same logic, no race is inferior to another. I make my judgments on a person's character, not on the color of his skin.
The opportunities Blacks have today have been hard-won, so I don't mind celebrating Martin Luther King's birthday. He dedicated his life to the advancement of Black people everywhere, not just in America, and he deserves to be recognized and remembered for his efforts. However, I empathize with LottoVantage, because he's beginning to feel that the train is leaving without him, and he wants to scream, "Hey! What about the rest of us??? Don't we have a right to feel proud of who we are, too???"
To that, I can only say we certainly do have that right, but I think we should be careful that we don't claim to have suffered an equal degree of oppression and discrimination as the Asian, African or Hispanic populations have been forced to endure for hundreds of years in the very country they helped to build.
Irish and Italian immigrants were also considered to be inferior when they emigrated to America, but our railroads, churches, cathedrals and most of our roads, which still exist today, wouldn't have been built without them, and they were White.
Be proud of who you are, LottoVantage, and of your heritage but, at the same time, be aware that those of other races and ethnicities made significant sacrifices in their own contributions to America.
If you want to know the real truth, read "History of the Great American Fortunes," by Gustavus Myers. It opened my eyes, and really helped to put things in perspective, racially speaking. It was first published in 1909, and updated in 1936, but the information it contains is still very poignant. I was so impressed with this book that I've given away 18 copies (I even sent one to Todd), and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who takes the time and trouble to read what I've written here. I can promise you won't be disappointed.

Now that all our (differences) are settled, forgiven, and accepted, we can begin a brand new year with a nice clean slate.

I guess hatred is what it takes to generate responses to a blog. I'll have to remember that when and if I ever begin posting lotto solutions to the blog again!

And, as truesee commented, I love all of you and wish you nothing but the greatest success in 2009 and beyond.

LottoVantage, I think people misunderstood your blog and my comment. They think we hate black people and other races. I don't know about you, but that wasn't my intention. What I got from your post-and was agreeing with-was that it doesn't make racism okay just because it is coming from the other end. We get offended on a daily basis and are supposed to just accept it.

Tenaj, kiss it, honey. You always tend to twist my words to make it something you want them to be. YOU are part of the problem. Learn some people skills. YOU are a racist. I didn't want Obama to win because he is everything I'm against politically and religiously. Quit making it more than that just because you are relishing for a fight. That is why you are banned from half of the blogs here. And btw, that particular attitude is what is coming between people right now anyway. Do you really think it is just Obama's race that is causing his problems right now? No. He is hiding very important information. And stalling for time until the inauguration because he really has no right to be in office. As much as I don't like him, Rev. Jesse Jackson did and would have been a better candidate. But people didn't like his approach (your approach) so he lost when he ran for prez. Obama was at least smart enough to at least pretend to give a care about the people in the U.S. and not be a racist-in-your-face-a**!

It seems that many of you haven't read the entire post. If you had done so, you wouldn't be calling LottoVantage a racist.
All he's saying is that Whites should have the same access to a free lunch that the "minority races" have. He hasn't said that Blacks haven't been oppressed, or that American Indians should be grateful for the land we "gave" them.
The point he's making is a valid one: Caucasians are being left behind in America's unending quest for political correctness.
I'm glad Wiltay decided to ring in here, and I'd like his opinion on the following statement: I know several Black people, both men and women, and they prefer the descriptive term, "Black," not "African-American," when race is being discussed. That moniker was dreamed up and adopted by rich White Americans, because they're so terrified of Black people that they were determined to come up with the most benign term possible but, as usual, they completely missed their mark and came up with a term that Black people find almost as offensive as the "n" word.
Now, since you've brought it up, the "n" word actually derives from the Latin, "Niger." Literally translated, Niger means, "Black." During the years when slaves were traded and bought like cattle, the word "niger" made its way into the lexicons of the Portuguese, Spanish and other slave trading countries, but it was misread by ignorant American fur trappers like John Astor, who dabbled in the slave trade from time to time. From that first mispronunciation, the "N" word was born, which now refuses to die, being kept alive by equally ignorant Blacks and Whites.
I find it odd that the "N" word is not used in Canada, Germany, Italy and many other countries who boast Black residents; it appears this is mostly an American term.
LottoVantage is no more or less a bigot than any of us who have posted our opinions here, and if you'd take the time to read what he's written, I think some of you, hopefully, will change your minds. If he was promoting the Caucasian race as superior to any other, his comments would certainly be racist, but that's not what he's written here.
LottoVantage is simply pointing out that the Caucasian race is the ONLY one whose members don't dare to take pride in their White heritage because, if they do, as LottoVantage has done, they are immediately percieved and labeled as racist bigots.
From many of the responses I've read here, I'd have to say his assessment is right on the money. However, those of you who took the time and trouble to thoroughly read and understand his comments give me some hope that we might just attain true racial equality someday. Good for you for standing up, and thanks for speaking your minds on a very unpopular issue.
On the other hand, those of you who don't get it probably never will, so I won't waste my time, or yours, trying to change your minds. If you're determined to believe that LottoVantage is a bigot, well, go ahead; you're only helping to prove his point, so I'm sure he doesn't mind.
