Excuse Me, You're Stepping On My Stomach!

Well, not quite yet but sometimes I feel like it's dragging on the floor! LOL

"Here comes a New Year," I said. "Are you going to do it this time?" Been trying to lose these same pounds for quite awhile now and finally had to admit to myself that I can't do it on my own. Blame it on age, weariness of trying yet another diet, blah blah blah, this time "I'm going to do it!" With a little (no, a LOT) of help from Bistro M.D. I spent a lot of time on the internet looking up "diets delivered to your door."

Nutrisystem was out of the question. Did you know people sell this on ebay? You can't believe what people will pay for those tiny little packages of SODIUM! Did I say SODIUM?? Oh God. Loaded with it. I actually bought a week's worth of food last year from some lady on ebay who said she had lost all the weight she wanted and was selling the leftovers. I didn't want to commit to the whole month deal at the actual website so thought this would be a great way to try it out. Having eaten plenty of Healthy Choice's and Lean Cuisine's over the years my palate is used to this "packaged food" but even that didn't prepare me for SaltySystem!  That's really what they should call it. Couldn't believe how much sodium was in every package. The macoroni and cheese comes in a Cup A Soup container. JUST ADD WATER and CHOKE. And it's not just the salt that turned me off, it was the taste. Nothing tasted good at all. No wonder people lose weight with this system-- because you can't eat the food. Of course you're going to lose weight!

With Jenny Craig you have to pay not only for the food but some counselor has to talk to you every week. No Thanks! The last thing I want to talk about is my fat with some stranger,LOL. And once a week!

South Beach is good and I've mentioned before that I tried it. But you have to do a lot of cooking and the less time I spend in the kitchen, the better! Besides, I just hate having to think about what I'm going to eat next and having to grocery shop all the time. Nope, I had to find something easy, affordable, and tastes good.

After much research I decided on the Bistro M.D. Diet. It just seemed the logical choice. Fresh food prepared by chefs that you can either microwave or heat in boiling water. Every meal planned out for you by a weight loss specialist doctor. There are 4 plans to choose from so I took the "cheapest" one at $155 a week if you can call that "cheap" haha. It's the 5 day Work Week with no snacks,15 meals. The other 2 days I'll be on my own but it will be good training for me now that I'm actually seeing what correct portion sizes should be. We all THINK we know what a 2 oz. portion is, but, honey, when you actually SEE 2 ozs. in front of you it's a whole different story!

Got my first shipment 4 days ago. First breakfast--bagel with cream cheese. Well, that's not so bad,is it? I'm going to LIKE this diet. I pull out the bagel. This doesn't look like the bagels I'M used to eating. Are you sure they can legally call this a bagel? This tiny HOCKEY PUCK that's some kind of brown color? I sighed and opened the teaspoon of cream cheese to spread on it. And,you know, it wasn't bad! Not bad at all. In fact EVERYTHING has been delicious and tastes homemade! No preservitives, No High Fructose! I never thought I'd eat things like black bean puree and Morroccan Lentil Salad along with salmon and stuffed chicken with spinach and feta cheese but it's all been very tasty. Every 5 weeks the menus start over again so I will be eating something new every day. This is my 3rd day and my stomach must be shrinking because I forgot my mid-morning snack and didn't even miss it!

I'm looking forward to browsing the LP tomorrow morning with my Hot Chocolate and golf ball size Apple Berry Nut Muffin. Think this diet is a keeper!

Stepping on your stomach? At least you don't have 2 belly buttons. I have one on my stomach and the other in the Naval Reserve. (big groan)

About the nutri-system food...a couple of years ago a man I worked with gave me around $200 worth of it and it tasted so bad I gave most of it away and threw the rest away...that is the worst food I have ever tasted. The hamburger that was freeze dried tasted like cardboard and stuck in my throat. As a former weight loss counselor from a reputable franchise my ex and I had I can't believe I even wanted to try it in the first place. I have never heard of the Bistro plan.

Changing your eating habits and a good life style plan is the only way to go. Quick fixes may work in the short term but most of the time it's gained back quickly but if you stick with a life-style change for good you can stay there but of course it's easier said than done as it does require a lot of discipline of which I am lacking...lol

Thanks to everyone for viewing!

Maddog,thanks for the high five!

JustX,you really have 2 bellybuttons? Did I read something where I saw you mention that before?

On other diets I've been on,crankiness does set it,truecritic. Surprisingly I feel none of that with this one! ;)

Vergie,I'm glad to see I'm not alone in dissing Nutrisystem. Yes,you are right,it's all about changing habits. This is a diet you can stay on for the rest of your life,or so they say on the website. I hate to say "diet" because it does sound like a quick fix but I know it's something I will have to follow forever. Girlfriend, you hit it on the head. Discipline....what's that? LOL I forgot the meaning.

No, I don't have 2 of them.   Maybe I used the same silly joke.
Good luck with your diet.   Make sure when you look in the mirror, you like what you see. That's more important then dieting.
