MOUNT COMFORT, Ind. – Three state highway workers cleaning up litter picked up an abandoned tire — and found about $100,000 inside.

Indiana state police suspect the cash, in denominations of $5 to $100, — may be drug money. State Police spokesman Mike Burns says a drug-sniffing dog found the scent of drugs on the bills.

Police said the workers found the tire Friday in a ditch along Interstate 70 just east of Indianapolis.

Police say the tire appeared to be from a large truck. It isn't clear how long it was in the ditch.

Detective Sgt. Keith O'Donnell commended the workers for their "honesty and professionalism" in contacting police.

The DEA has their mitts on the money now.
You can kiss finders keepers goodbye if no one comes forward for the cash.

When they had those drug stiffing dogs around that money it was obvious that the money was going to DEA.

It has been said that the money you carry on your person might possibly have drugs on it as well.
So do they get to keep the cash or not.
If a dog sniffs my money and it hints of drugs does that mean I'm a drug dealer too.
The only money that possibly doesn't have drugs on it is brand new minted money.

Drugs are so pervasive in our society. Just as you stated, it gets on most of the money except ones that haven't been passed around much.

...Now to figure out how to get my truck tire back with the cash!

I wonder if the three highway workers were searched when police arrived?
