Lose the gall stones...old school

Yesterday my 21 yr. old son woke me up at 3 a.m complaining of severe abdominal pain.  He had tried Pepto Bismol, no help.  I gave him the baking soda and water antacid treatment.  No help.  The pain was intense (upper abdomen slightly to the right side) so we went to the Emergency Room.  We got there and pain was less, so we decided to wait till morning to go to the clinic.  That appointment led to a return trip to the hospital where they did an ultrasound and diagnosed it as a gall stone blocking the duct.  They explained the pain could come and go because the stone was still in the gall bladder, not in the duct and the stone was free to move around.

He was given two choices.  Surgery now or wait it out and see what happens (if it goes into the duct it will be very painful and then we are to go to the hospital immediately).

He wisely chose to wait and see what happens.  That gave me a chance to go online and learn about it.  My search yielded a home remedy for passing gall stones.  There is a book about it.  I mentioned this remedy to my Polish co-worker and she said she had heard about it in her family (that clinched it for me).  On the website you'll see testimonials as to its effectiveness.

Remember when they used to yank out every kid's tonsils for a sore throat?  They said we didn't need them.  Turns out they are part of our immune system.  You can go without a gall bladder also.  But without one you will always have trouble digesting fatty foods and may continue having the same symptoms as before your surgery.  The gall bladder secretes extra bile to help digest fat.  The point is, every organ in your body has a purpose or it wouldn't be there.

So the treatment is simple and only involves a short fasting, drinking olive oil and lemon juice, and laying down.  Here is a link to the instructions.

http://www.relfe.com/gall_stone_cleanse.html

If you decide to do it, here is my "recipe".  It will be much more palatable and probably as effective as drinking olive oil and lemon juice straight.

16 oz. cold virgin olive oil (I used organic extra virgin)
8 oz. fresh squeezed lemons (I used ReaLemon lemon juice concentrate)
16 oz. Welch's grape juice
2 Tablespoons honey

Put everything in blender and blend well.

Dose is 1/2 cup of blend every twenty minutes until finished.  (Sip a little grape juice after dose if you feel nauseous.)

I ran the blender for a few seconds at each dose to remix.

Note:  Read the whole page at the link including the comments.  You will note a side effect of the olive oil and lemon juice is possible nausea.  My son had a couple episodes of vomiting during treatment.  (However his original symptoms included nausea and he had been sick several times earlier in the day.)  Also note in the comments at the site that one person's condition was aggravated by the treatment.  (Although I think she was a secretary for Big Pharma.)

Here is the "science" behind it.  The olive oil serves as a lubricant to pass the stones and it provides the body a lot of fat at one time and that triggers the gall bladder to open it's duct to secrete bile (and hopefully gall stones) into the intestine.  The lemon juice helps break the stones down for easier passage.

The grape juice and honey are for flavoring.

This treatment might sound kind of gross, but I tasted it and it wasn't that bad and if you can avoid surgery for less than $15 isn't it worth a try?  (No, we're not going to go digging through his fecal disharge tomorrow hunting for 'nuggets'...lol)  But if the symptoms go away I'll be satisfied.

My final comment is this:  Why didn't the doctor recommend this as an early option to surgery?

Good for you. I hope son is feeling better. As to your ? Probably 100 yrs. ago doctors might have suggested the easy home remedy. Isn't the web great for this kind of info!!!! I have a great old book called "Back to Eden", lots of natural cures. It's still available in health food stores.

My mother had the operation, lived another 25 years. But back then they butchered you with a two foot scar on your chest. Ouch! Anyway, now its done with 3 -1 inch scars, not bad. I think I have it, gall stones, but am waiting for that pain that puts one on their knees and begs God for help before I do anything about it. I have a real MD that like home remedies and plan on putting that on my 'list' of complaints when I see him soon. Same Doctor for 35 years, could be more. I'll look up that link and check it out. Btw, I already use honey and lemon for colds and flu, have to wash and boil the lemons first, then add the juice to the honey, 1/2 and 1/2, been using that since I don't know when.

Wow that brought back memories. My wife had her gall bladder out about a year after our first child was born 27 years ago. I was thinking that your son is a little young for gall stones, but I realized that my wife was only 25 when she had hers. Man was she sick. And yeah Kaptainess, she has that famous scar to prove it. It took her a while to heal from that. What is weird is that she still gets sick every so often, not with the pain but just for no apparent reason she will wake up in the middle of the night and be sick to her stomach. Oh, I remember they put the stones in a little jar for us to see, there were quite a few.

That remedy makes sense. Lemon juice will probably acidify his body pH which may help dissolve the stone somewhat to facilitate it flowing out more easily as the bile duct opens to digest olive oil. Hope this helps pass the stone and he doesn't have to have medical intervention.

If the doctor recommended the remedy and it didn't work then some ambulance chasing attorney would have alleged that was grounds for medical malpractice since it didn't conform to currently acceptable medical protocol. Common sense is a thing of the past, everyone is playing CYA.

My brother had stones and the doc gave him some sort of medication to help dissolve and pass the stone easier.

The "less than $15" is the why your doc didn't mention it. :)

Thanks for the comments. I have good news. Treatment was 100% successful. 24 hours later, and his pain is gone. This works!

Wonder if I should bill him or his insurance co.? ;)

Besides the products that you talked about, long ago I read that apple cider vinegar might also help, diluted of course and not just one dose either, but drinking the diluted apple cider vinegar often, until the stones are gone, best maybe for small stones and also best for stones that have calcium, as vinegar makes calcium soft, by the way, it has to be apple cider vinegar, not white regular vinegar.

I know first hand this works Rick, had an attack about a year ago and found this treatment in a book of " Home Cures ". Gall stones can be super painful. MD's won't tell you about a home remedy verses a conventional trearment. Bad for buisness and Insurance.
