I have seen this particular guy on Nat Geo a number of times. (Or was the the Sci channel?) He's big-time into the global warming thing.

No person knows God's intentions, and we certainly are far too small -- physically and spiritually -- to understand the master plan. To call it "Stupid Design" is ignorant.

this kind of stuff tempts me to come out of "self-imposed retirement" here on LP.

"excuse-UNdesigned" is easily handled, .......man attempting to be his own "god", by excusing God out of the equation.

new technology - same old methodology

even though you and i are on the same page todd, God has clearly demonstrated his "intentions", and detailed exactly what His "master plan" is

It came as a bit of comic relief (notice the laughter in the audience) at the end of a group lecture entitled "Intelligent Design", there's really no need to get worked up about it.

I don't think you really understand the message of the speaker. You are looking at it in an extremely shallow way. Maybe my knowledge about the man giving the speech helps me see it much easier, I don't know.

His remarks about how there is ugliness ("stupid design") among all the "beautiful" things in his mind means that we look at the beauty and ignore the ugly. That is typical elitist, utopian thinking.

Utopia does not exist. That's why it's called utopia.

The world that John Lennon sang about does not exist. And I would not want to live in a world like it.

In order to have beauty, there must be ugliness. If everything was beautiful, there would be no concept of beauty. It is in the tremendous stark contrasts of the universe where we can see glimpses of the master plan, and the omnipotence behind it.
