Kings Mountain, N.C. — A Powerball lottery ticket worth $88 million was sold at a business in Kings Mount, west of Charlotte, North Carolina lottery officials said.

The winning ticket matched the numbers of 03 11 18 22 28 33 x2 drawn Saturday night. Lottery didn't say what business sold the winning ticket, citing security checks that need to be done.

"This is a thrilling time for North Caolina, because we will now anxiously sit and wait to see who may be holding that winning ticket," said Tom Shaheen, executive director of the North Carolina Education Lottery.

The $88.1 million prize will be paid out annually over 29 years, or the winner can chose to take lump payment worth approximately $42 million.

The winner has 180 days to claim the prize at state lottery headquarters in Raleigh. The back of the ticket should be signed. Officials recommended the winner call the lottery for instructions.

This marks the second time North Carolina has had a Powerball winner. Jackie Alston, of Halifax, bought a winning Powerball jackpot ticket worth over $74 million on Nov. 29, 2006.

The state lottery launched Powerball May 30, 2006.

well, I wish Ky or Tn would have a high winner already!   I have relatives in that area, I wonder if they'll go public?
