Mountain View, CA (AHN) - A company that supplies color-coded keyboards has launched a nationwide speed typing contest offering $1 million worth of prizes to the fastest typists in the U.S.

KeyRight USA said its America's Fastest Typist contest aims to improve the nation's keyboard literacy by offering cash prizes and educational scholarships to participating individuals, students, school teams and corporate teams.

"It (contest) will have local, regional, state and national 'on-line' qualifying heats culminating in national fame for individuals and school and corporate teams in a televised final to be staged in Las Vegas in June, next year," Keyright said in a press release.

Aside from fame and prizes, contestants will have an opportunity to improve their keyboard typing skills through the use of Keyright's Look & Learn Keyboard. The keyboard's colored keys guide users on learning touch typing.

Jerome Whitcroft, inventor of the Look & Learn keyboard, said over 130 million PC users in the U.S., including scores of millions of children, can't type properly or have no basic typing skill.

"Over 85% of all PC users have deficient keyboard skills, resulting in learning difficulties, reduced productivity and keyboard-related injuries," Whitcroft said.

The problem can be solved through the use of the Look & Learn Keyboard, which is gaining wide acceptance from school teachers, individuals and business owners and corporations right across America, he said

that's not the best way to promote computer keyboard literacy...If you want something learned or if you want something done the best way is to start when they are teenagers and create a Pick3 that pays, 500 dollars or 300 dollars everyday to the fastest keyboard writer....That's the fastest way to get the job done, in fact any job done...

which gave me an idea...There is a website named: "Funster.com" that is a multiple choice english vocabulary game and the game doesn't give any money but you should see teenagers fighting to get the words correct...Now imagine something simpler as typing and getting paid, to teenagers like 200 dollars or 100 dollars to the day's winner to whoever types the fastest or commits less erros typing...This just proves that a "Video Game or Online Gaming" should not be allowed...I can't believe there is nobody who has volunteer money to promote certain things...

You know this makes me happy, because like 5 years ago i noticed that they sell laptops used ones that did not connect you to the internet but you could insert a learning how to type disk and you could use those laptops to types and you could carry the laptop with you anywhere you wanted to again the laptops did not have the power/capacity to connect you to the internet but you could type on them...And the used ones cost like 200 dollars some even 150 dollars but the thing was that i could not get the disk to work on the laptops....And there was only 1 learning how to type disk program when there should had been a lot of them....
Anyways if you gave 100 dollars to teenagers for whoever types the fastest for the day or whoever doesn't commit errors typing in the game, a sort of typing game you will make wonders....
truesee thanks a lot very much for showing me this...

And they don't have to be teenagers they could be little kids or small kids or boys & girls...You know kids will do anything for money...A bycicle, clothes, a movie ticket with pop corn, etc...

A good example is lotterypost.com, notice how people kill themselves and sweat and come up with all sorts of work outs to try and win 500 dollars...Now tell me, which one is more achievable? becoming a super fast typist and winning a couple of 200 or 300 dollars along the way or cracking pick3? The answer is becoming a superfast typist...Again is a very good example...

sorry to clog your blog, this will be my last comment....but i was going to say: Just like if there is money been awarded for a certain skill/hobbie there will be a demand for it, so a product to fill that demand can be created..A good example is the lottery...The lottery rewards money for whoever matches the numbers so there is a demand for lottery softwares...Same thing could be for typing you can create a product to fill the demand and make money from it and portion of that product share can go into giving away money for whoever types the most/best/fastest, etc....
