YouTube - You Can Have Her By Roy Hamilton

Published:

Great music from the way-back machine.

Roy Hamilton came from an era where voice and ability stood on their own merits, and he has one of the most extraordinarily beautiful voices of mid 50's to early 60's.  I believe he was the firt singer to hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1957.... someone has posted that video on YouTube.

Hope you enjoy!!

Real MUSIC is from the 50s, 60s! You might be right about 1957.

However, this is the 45rpm that sits in my basement:

Best known for his massive 1955 hit single UNCHAINED MELODY Al Hibbler (1915-2001) was a distinctive singer with a dramatic and steady vibrato which he used to great effect on a series of popular singles and albums. Thanks Truecritic!!! OMG I didn't know that .... I stand corrected!!! Oldie stations don't play the Al Hibber version of Unchained Melody so never knew it existed.

Heard Roy Hamilton's version the first time in about 1961. There was one major FM station in Atlanta (now sold and playing country) which featured oldies for a couple of hours once a week that played Roy Hamilton's version once in awhile ... vinyl crackles and all.
