Um, only problem with your logic is that the plan Congress currently receives (and will continue to receive) is nothing like the so-called "public option". It is an elite plan. Congress would never dream of subjecting themselves to the Socialist government health plan that they have in store for the rest of us.

The government is not a giant police force -- they are the ones that corrupt whatever they touch. The last thing we want them touching is our health plans. It would be a disaster.

Today, I had to advise a patient, who has a fairly good job, but can't afford the insurance that her job offers, how to get the presciptions filled that the doctor had written for her. I sent her to Wal-Mart. I asked her how she plans to get the medications that are not on the Wal-Mart list. She stated, "I'll just call around to different people in my family and borrow money to pay for them." She concluded, "I guest they will help me."
There are so many people who are trying to recover from whatever illness or medical procedures they have had and the only thing that stands in the way of them getting the help that they need are the "Scrooges" that have made up their minds that, rather to than help those in need, let's label the effort something scarry and maybe those who need help will die and rid the earth of them, leaving the rest of us, (who can afford health insurance),alone.
We definitely need healthcare insurance that is designed to cover the needs of the uninsured.
Thank you mrlottery15

Thanks for you comments...this is just one case among millions. So many people have decided between eating or paying for their meds. This is no way to live and it will only get worse unless something is done.

mrlottery, I have seen that senerio more times than enough. That reminds me of a mother who brings her sick child to the emergency room when the child runs out of medicine and ask for medication vouchers. The child medicines are mostly covered by the child's prescription plan, but, sometimes mom just can't come up with the co-pay.
I can't tell you how many times our staff has collected money to help someone to pay a presciption.
It's outrageous.

You're absolutely correct mrlottery. It's like asking the wolves to guard the sheep. Greed, corruption, and special interests always gets in the way of fixing simple problems. It really isn't that complicated. It's the ones who have something to lose financially who make it sound complicated so they can mislead and scare everyone.
