Strange thing I got in my e-mail...

I know the following is a scam ... but did anyone around here get this same scam? (I will only post the first paragraph up...)

This communication to you is strictly
confidential, with due respect. Sorry at this
perceived confusion or stress you may have receiving
this letter from me, Since we have not known ourselves
or met previously. Despite that, I am constrained to
write you this letter because of the urgency of it.By
way of self introduction, I am Mrs. Sarah Kobe, the wife
of late Brigadier - Gen.Maxwell Kobe normer ECOMOG
ARMY COMMANDER [West African peacekeeping force in
Sierra Leone] who died in the Sierra Leone civil
disturbance [War]. My three daughters and I are
trapped in obnoxious custom and traditional norms..

Did anyone else get this? Yuck. The reason why I abridged this to only one paragraph is because of the possibility of mis-interpetation; I just posted just the first paragraph to get it identified. The sender is : sarahkobe [sarahkobe@egine.com]

I've gotten numerous versions of this through Email over the past several years. It usually refers to Nigerian oil money, but it has changed over the years to purporting to be from many different African nations and hidden money. I've also seen versions claiming to be from Hong Kong and one claiming to be from Haiti when Aristide was removed from power.

Some try to legitimize themselves but putting in links to stories from legitimate news sources(most often the BBC), but they are still a scam. The best thing to do is not to answer the correspondence but to either just delete it and go on or if you want to do something about it, complain to the ISP which originated it. Most ISPs have policies against this, so they may disconnect the sender's account. Also, forwarding a copy of it along with the headers to the Federal Trade Commission might help too. The address is uce@ftc.gov.

The spam problem isn't getting any better.
