We disagree on a lot of things, but when your fellow brothers and sisters need help urgently, folks seem to bypass the superflous, and deal with what is really important in life.

Thanks joker.   You are correct, this is real, harsh, and immediate.   No electricity, no water, no shelter, no food, no nothing. It is rough there to begin with, but this is catastrophic.........I hope we do all we can, as always.

Don't forget that if you are paying U.S. income tax that you are already donating.

Also, by all means do what you want but don't forget to make sure to take care of yourself first so that you can help elsewhere.

Be sure you are donating to a ligit outfit like the Red Cross because lots of scams are going to pop up now for donating to Haiti relief.
Everytime I leave my house and go to a store I get hit up for "spare change" and most often I give a dollar to a homeless looking person. Yesterday it was a guy with a backpack, work clothes and missing front teeth. As I came out of the store he asked if I could spare some change for him to get something to eat. My hands were full with my groceries so I said follow me. I got to the car trunk and I guess he didn't hear me. I got in the car. I saw him ask several ppl coming out of the store and nobody would give him anything. So I honked my horn and waved a dollar out the car window. He was so thankful and said God bless you and then he quickly went off prolly to the hamburger joint next door for a dollar burger. Later I thought gee, I shoulda given him $2 or $3 so he could get a drink too and fries.

Anyway, the point of this dissertation is that my heart goes out to Haiti and I thought about giving $10 but I am already giving right here in my neighborhood whenever I leave my house out of my meager purse.
