Health Care Bill to be passed

Published:

Let me get this straight......we're trying to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed

by a Congress that hasn't read it but exemptsthemselves from it, to be signedby a president that also hasn't read it and who smokes, with fundingadministered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, andfinancedby a country that's broke.

What the hell could possibly go wrong????

I think they've all lost their minds ..... or being so enriched by special interests that being sent home after elections will be inconsequential to them.

Thanks konane. I think many of them think we have short memories.

Em, I believe most of them think we have brain capacity of mushrooms, farmed in the dark and fed their BS.

Whatever unity there was in this country has been lost with this administration. We are now a divided nation between those who want socialism and those who want freedom.

All I can say is don't send your kids to Harvard if they want to be constitutional lawyers! They will learn nothing about the constitution or the law.

Rick, this must also apply to Yale since the last administration used many of the same political methods over 200 times. All of a sudden when a Democrat does the same thing, such as uses reconciliation to pass a bill, it's destroying the country.

Why do people hate folks like me so much? Please tell me, Emily while you get your Soc Sec check & Medicare benefits that I've worked over 40 years to earn why I have to suffer because my insurance company doubled my premiums after I got hurt last year? I guess I should get on my knees and pray I don't die before I'm 65.

Hillary Clinton ran on this agenda. It was one her main goals to pass health reform and Bill Clinton tried and got shot down by the Republicans. Now some people who loved both of them hate the same things they fought for and I can't figure it out...oh, I know. The Clintons look like people you would invite over for dinner.

JAP - We weren't a divided nation before? Huh? You mean you don't remember all the protests against the Iraq War? You don't remember all the people who marched during the Vietnam War? I remember 1969 and students at Kent State being shot by the National Guard during a protest. But you're right. We are a divided nation. There's George Bush's friends he called the Haves & Have Mores and then there's the rest of us slobs who can't find a decent job or afford good medical care.

I don't like what they're doing at all. I wish people in Congress like Kucinich could have pushed through a Public Option or a Single Payer plan, but at least this is a start. I wish they'd lower the eligibility for Medicare to 55 or even 60 right away, but the Republicans who get great benefits paid for by the taxpayers said that's not going to happen.   What I don't like and will agree is unconstitutional, is forcing people to pay for health insurance to a for-profit private corporation. However, anyone who currently has it, is doing it now and will see premium increases soar through the roof if nothing is done to stop the corporations.

One more thing. I keep reading about "socialism" and it's mentioned above.   Even a card carrying Socialist knows Obama is far from one. However, make sure you never go to Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands (and many more) or Costa Rica where your pal Rush said he'd get medical treatment. All of these countries have government run health care. Funny, Ronald Reagan said Medicare would destroy America and used words like Socialism. So I'm asking everyone here who uses it to please refuse to use it. FDR was fought tooth & nail when he passed Soc Sec. After all, the Republicans cried Socialism. So I'm begging anyone who gets a check to please burn it.   Then maybe we can have a heart to heart. Otherwise is total hypocrisy. Why people are fighting for the money-making, greedy insurance companies instead of people who just want to enjoy life and know they can be treated with dignity is so beyond my understanding that I promise not to ever come back here to post.

@justx: Obama is supposedly a constitutional lawyer. At least that's what his bio says. Bush was not a constitutional lawyer (though it gives him no excuse for trashing it).   Harvard has (arguably) a better law program than Yale. Don't read more into my comment than there is. Please note that my comments NEVER embrace the phony left/right, liberal/conservative paradigm. I dislike BOTH men and BOTH parties EQUALLY. There are millions more like me out there who are not falling for this divide-and-conquer game anymore. It's time to wake up and see that while we are arguing, the country is getting flushed down the   toilet by BOTH parties!!!
