" Al Qaeda Men Captured
Published:
Coalition forces have arrested two alleged leaders of al Qaeda in Iraq, the US military has said.
The two men were identified as Taha Ibrahim Yasin Becher, also known as Abu Fatima, and Hamed Saeed Ismael Mustafa, also known as Abu Shahed.
The men were apparently holding a meeting at the time of their capture.
They are said to have headed the Mosul branch of the terror group, which is led by Abu Musab al Zarqawi.
The group has claimed responsibility for dozens of suicide bombings which have left thousands of people dead.
They have also kidnapped and murdered several Western contractors, including Briton Ken Bigley.
A US statement said Abu Fatima took over as the group's top-ranking operative in Mosul 12 days ago, after his predecessor was captured by Coalition forces.
On Thursday, Major General Rick Lynch said security forces had killed 226 militants and captured 757 in recent operations in Mosul and the surrounding area."

Sounds like the daily body-count figures from 1969, 1969, 1970. 226 Vietcong captured. 157 killed. And only 30 American troops were killed or injured.
Time hurries on. Maybe victory by body-count will work better this time.

Eventually the odds are bound to catch up and find that belief to be correct, most likely.

Looks like they may have found part of another "sleeper cell" from this report:
"Student Arrested After Pilot Uniform Found
The Associated Press
Friday, September 16, 2005; 11:39 PM
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A university student from Egypt was ordered held without bond after prosecutors said they found a pilot's uniform, chart of Memphis International Airport and a DVD titled "How an Airline Captain Should Look and Act" in his apartment.
The FBI is investigating whether Mahmoud Maawad, 29, had any connection to terrorists. He is awaiting trial on charges of wire fraud and fraudulent use of a Social Security number." .......
........"Maawad had ordered $3,000 in aviation materials, including DVDs titled "Ups and Downs of Takeoffs and Landings," "Airplane Talk," "Mental Math for Pilots" and "Mastering GPS Flying," FBI agent Thad Gulczynski testified.
The company reported Maawad to authorities when he didn't pay for $2,500 of merchandise it had delivered, Gulczynski said."
