just because she's old an sick doesn't give her the right to threaten bodily harm or wield a knife, however the police went a little to far with the taser, she started and now wants to sue. hmmm

According to the police statement, she did not call them. What were they doing in her apartment?

[The first officer on the scene said that Varner told him, "I want to die. I did not call you, so get the (expletive) out of my house."]

Dealing with the elderly is like walking through a mine field. Because we are not in their situation yet it is easy for us to draw conclusions. Has anyone considered that she probably has dementia-alheimerzs-or a s hit load of other mental abnormalities that come with being old and on medication. It's obvious that this woman has limited capicity because she's on oxygen. Ie..... it's not like she ccould chase you without keeling over from lack of oxygen.

I would not be surprised to learn that someone had agitated her and didn't know how to calm her hence the police was called. I pray that her case woker/attorney has the whole incident investigated to see why this sick old woman was so agitated that this had to happen.

It is my experience that caring for the elderly especially in the home setting is a very stressful ordeal. Why because it is like caring for an oversized child. Depending on how disabled the person is, it's not like the care giver can up and go where ever without making proper arrangements. Trust me, Adult Protective Services does not play. Neglect or abuse the elderly and you will find your butt behind bars so fast, it will make your head spin.

For all we know it could be the family's way of trying to get this woman committed to a full-time facility. We-Don't-Know.
Just remember that the only difference between you and them is a few years. It's a right of passage none of us look forward to. And the only way to avoid it is to die!!
