I never send personal information over the internet nor do I do banking on the internet. There are just too many scams out there. Knowing these scams are being used to bankrupt people, why do some still send personal information over the web?

When I wish to purchase an item, I use the web to discover who has it and the cost. Once found, I look for a phone number. If the web site does not have a phone number, I will keep searching for a site that does.

Folks, never send personal information over the internet. No matter what you do, you will never be fully protected. Let the major companies handle the security. They have the resources to purchase the latest and greatest. They have people doing nothing but monitoring their site for unusual activity. They have programs constantly monitoring data going in and out. They know when they are being hacked. You never will.

The fact that the bank is un-named is odd. Don't the depositors have a right to know how crappy their bank's security is? That's like having a vault without a door!

Small community banks and credit unions don't seem to have these problems.

Thanks Gasmeterguy! Especially true if someone doesn't have updated good virus software with a firewall.

Thanks Rick! I figure since it was a UK article it's just a matter of time before they start hoovering out US bank accounts.

SAD. I wonder if the government is behind it.

Thanks Sully! You're beginning to think like a conspiracy theorist (like some of the rest of us). lol Likely when those hackers are found some government somewhere will hire them for something.

The major banks robbed us overtly...what's to stop them from doing it covertly? "Oh I'm sorry, Mr. Sixpack...your balance is showing zero..."
