A gas station clerk is accused of chasing a suspected beer thief out of the store and ramming the man with his car.
In charges filed Wednesday, police wrote that a 61-year-old Salt Lake City man was working July 19 at a Conoco station at 287 W. 2100 South when he saw a man take two beers and leave without paying.
The clerk left the store, got into his car and chased the suspected thief, who was riding a bicycle, police wrote. A few blocks away, the clerk found the man in a parking lot and hit him with his car.
The clerk was charged with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.
