Slurs are used by "progressives" all the time. It's all they have. There is no substance to their ideology. Feel good statements which can not be supported with facts or experience is all they have. Hence, slurs directed towards those propounding facts and experience are meant to influence the weak of mind.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people weak of mind.
