Frauds and Croaks

Hello LP members,

I have been receiving email from some strange people. Can't say where they are coming from and how they got my email but I find it very strange they keep coming and I keep sending them away. They would tell me that I have won the lottery in their country (uk). Now remind you I have not enter into this lottery. How would you come to my email and tell me that I won the lottery and I did not even enter this lottery. Who in the world would take me for a fool. I might be sick but I am not stupid........I have been in the Banking business for 19years and I know a crock when I see one. I call it like i see it......I spent years catching crocks and sending them to jail......so whoever is giving out my email on this site and trying to get me to send money. Well kiss my big a-----. That will never happen.

Thank you Todd for allowing me to use this post, but I have decided this is a dangerous thing for me to do at this with me being sick. I will visit, but I want do anything.

Entry #31

Hi Linda,

Those e-mails are sent out to literally millions of people at once. They are a form of spam, and everyone gets them. It is not somebody who personally knows you, it is some scammer someplace who harvests e-mail addresses off the Internet, and then sends the same message to everyone.

If you think you have it bad, you have not seen my inbox. I personally get more than one thousand e-mails like that per day. I have a fairly sophisticated spam filter, which automatically deletes most of them, so I don't have to, but I am still forced to manually delete about 100-200 per day.

It's just plain annoying at this point, and it's hard to believe there are still people out there who get sucked in to this garbage.

Believe it or not, even with all the text on the Lottery Post "Contact Us" page about how these scams are all fake, I get at least a few dozen e-mails every day from people writing to me to claim some kind of prize offered in those spam messages. Those people are just as annoying as the spammers!
