MEEKER — A man set up a hidden camera hoping to catch the person who was setting fires on his property and discovered it was his wife, according to court documents.

Sharlet Renea Flick, 47, of Meeker, was charged in Pottawatomie County District Court this week with third-degree arson and endangering human life. She is accused of setting fire to a shed and vacant travel trailer on her property and endangering the lives of emergency workers in the process.

Authorities think she could be responsible for as many as 11 fires on her property in April. Most of the fires occurred during the driest conditions when the county was under a burn ban.

“Anytime we roll on a call firefighters are exposed to dangerous risks,” Shawnee Fire Chief Jimmy Gibson said.

Flick's husband set up a trail camera in their backyard grill and captured his wife on April 7 walking to a well house. As she walked back, trees around the well house lit up from a fire, according to a court affidavit.

Family members who confronted her about starting the fires and got strange responses took her to a hospital for mental health treatment, the affidavit states.

Numerous county deputies and 19 Shawnee firefighters responded to the fires. The fires caused thousands of dollars in damage, firefighters said.
