Do you still have the same opinion of the Fair Tax?

What?I was reading the old blogs and opinions of the Fair Tax that went back to 2006 and I was wondering if the same opinions still stand since so much has happened since then.  I don't think the threat of one world government and big brother taking away so many of our American rights were so much threatening then.

My opinion is having the government totally monitor everything you spend is scary to me.  It sounds good but have total control written all over it to me.

No income tax

a kind of rebate check every year

only tax is when you spend

no payroll deductions

23% tax on everything you spend

Just want to know if the opinions are still the same as when it was talked about a great deal in these blogs back in 2006.

Before we can discuss taxes we have to establish what the role of the federal govt is supposed to be. No amount of taxation can support the current system which is corrupted to the very core.

The original intent for the fed govt was to be strictly administrative to the needs of the states. It was not intended to police the world, make wars, or "spread democracy". We are spending more money on affairs outside of our borders than inside. And speaking of borders, they are not even protecting our southern border which is the most important function of any federal govt.

It was not intended to be a benefactor to the people nor a controller of the people. That responsibility would fall on each state according to the wishes of the people.

I feel that the only real, long-term solution is for the 50 states is to dissolve all three branches of the current federal govt. Each of our 50 states is a sovereign entity (country) in its own right. They could then form a confederation of independent states, similar to how it was done with the break-up of the Soviet Union. They didn't need a revolution for the people to regain their control and there is no reason we should have to. Simply break ties and cut funding to them. They will be out of DC within a week and out of our underwear forever.

My feelings toward the Fair Tax are even stronger now than before and I have been a supporter of the Fair Tax for a long time. You said "My opinion is having the government totally monitor everything you spend is scary to me. " Do you realize how much the IRS knows about you now? The IRS will be gone with the Fair Tax. People that have "loopholes" and pay NO tax now, will pay every time they buy something.

The Fair-tax is the only way for the people today period. No Government in your buisness as usual, and then all the theives in Washington D.C, will be looking elsewhere to scavage their pocket linings.
This country needs sovereignty now more than ever. Were being taxed to clean up someone eles's back yard, when were supposed to be cleaning up our own..!

ANY amount sent to the District of Criminals is too high a tax. They managed to create trillions for the banksters and bomb makers, yet they want to threaten the few pennies due to the oldsters.

38000 pages of IRS tax code eliminated. Yes of course. I think 23% is too high. There has to be a better number. Most states around MD DC AND VA is 4-6% they just raised the alcohol tax to 9% in MD. I think it should be no more than 15-20% fed state combined, Herman Cain is all over it at 23%.

@jarasan So you think we can eliminate Federal Income Tax, and all the payroll taxes and run the country on 15-20% sales tax? What figures do you have to show that will work? I would like to see the Fair Tax at less than 23%, but I thought we needed that to run the country without all the other taxes. Please explain.
