Remembering Our Soldiers On Veterans' Day

It is the Soldier,
not the reporter, who has given us freedom of press.

It is the Soldier,
not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier,
not the campus organizer, who gives us freedom to demonstrate.

It is the Soldier
who salutes the flag,
who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

The myth that the military is protecting our freedoms is just that: a myth. Our freedoms are being eroded in direct proportion to our increased foreign military interventions. Arabs are not taking away our freedoms, our own govt is.

I salute our innocent soldiers for their courage and intentions but that doesn't make unlawful wars lawful and that doesn't bring innocent civilians back to life. At some point a man must decide if what he is doing is right, moral and just. Is he serving the Creation or is he serving usurpers of the Creation?
