Speaking of Food Stamps ...

As soon as the technology & costs fully catch up with the idea ...

It sounds so "proper": USE OF BIOMETRIC IDENTIFICATION TECHNOLOGY
TO REDUCE FRAUD IN THE FOOD STAMP PROGRAM (1999)

If they really wanted to reduce fraud, they'd get rid of the "program" and quit hassling people trying to grow their own. BTW, the biggest fraudsters are behind the scenes running it, not the people you see at the stores. No more shopping for your old, sick auntie. She'll just have to get better and do her own ... or starve.

But, of course, it was never really about the food, was it? Wink

I remember way back in my younger years I was told you did not get food stamp coupon dollars or an ebt card. Anyone in need of food who qualified went to a central warehouse or local distribution center and picked up surplus gov't food. Whatever the gov't purchased for warehouse supply. Cheese, bags of beans, flour or whatever else they had which I do not know. Being on federal assistance back then was not discussed with neighbors.

Not too much longer to wait for the "chip" implants.

A bit like the tale of "How to catch wild pigs".
