Pennsylvania's Powerball Lottery Winner Claims $60 Million Jackpot

It will be a happy holiday season for one man from Luzerne County. He is the big winner of the Pennsylvania Lottery`s Powerball jackpot from earlier this month.
Steven Lloyd of Harding received a check Monday afternoon for 37.6 million. He picked up his Powerball winnings at the Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters near Harrisburg.
"Good things take time, but great things happen in an instant!" Lloyd said.
His good fortune started when he bought a cup of coffee and a granola bar earlier this month at the Turkey Hill in Exeter, Luzerne County. He decided to try his luck at the lottery.
"The change that came from that had a five dollar bill in it. I asked the girl what Powerball was at. I said, 'Just put the change in Powerball,'" Lloyd recounted.
It turns out, Lloyd was holding the winning Powerball ticket, worth almost $60 million. He said he couldn't believe it. He checked the ticket about 15 times, and then had his mom double check it.
"It was then I realized I was the sole winner of $59.9 million," Lloyd said.
He is the 14th person to win Powerball in Pennsylvania and his winnings are the 12th largest the state has ever seen.
Lloyd has decided to take the lump sum payment of $37.6 million. He said his first purchase will most likely be a new car but other than that he`s not sure.
"I haven`t planned anything yet. I want to have a year of transition and see how it shakes out. I`ve contacted advisory people to help me do that," the new millionaire said.
Lloyd wasn`t the only winner. The Turkey Hill in Exeter where he bought the ticket will get a $100,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
Lloyd said he will play the lottery again, even though he thinks he has used up most of his luck.
