Kirsten Powers is a committed liberal, so I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that she wrote a very negative article about the Republican front-runner. I just roll my eyes and move along.

Well, they can't just *give* Romney the nod, people will remember that he suddenly dropped out in 2008, while doing alright in the polls. Most party faithful are on the "anybody but Obama" express, and few can even find the Congo on a map, let alone muster any care to find out what the Belgians really did there. If the GOP wins, they run into the problem of getting all the blame for what's about to happen.

@tt: Romney did not "suddenly drop out in 2008". He dropped out once it was clear he would not win. How do I know this? Because I voted for him in the primary in 2008 in New Jersey, and New Jersey is not exactly an early primary state.

Your comment about Republicans not knowing where Congo is on a map is odd. My guess is that most Americans would not know. And I'd further postulate that more Republicans would be able to locate Congo on a map than Democrats.

As for your third point, I'd gladly take that chance.
