The original intent of the 2nd Amendment

I ran across a thought-provoking comment on another forum that I've paraphrased here:

From deer license sales in four states:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin .

Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. More men under arms than in Iran . More than in France and Germany combined.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters.

Add about 250,000 hunters in West Virginia and it establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world with over 2 million skilled shooters.

The point? America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941, they could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive invasion until they reached the Mississippi River . Remember, we had a 2 million man army and war ships in other localities, so why did they not invade?

After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question. Their answer was that they knew that almost every home had guns and the Americans knew how to use them.

Hunting is not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security to have an armed and trained population. That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Food for thought when next we consider gun control.

Yep, That writer is right.
If they tell you that you need to be a hunter to bear arms they are full of it.

Thanks Rick, I don't hunt anymore, but my husband and son do, and believe me, before I let my baby in the woods with a weapon, he was taught gun saftey and every hunting rule in Michigan.
We have a gun safe, but growing up, all the guns were kept in the gun rack, not once did one of us 6 kids, think it was a toy, we were taught early.

I'm not a hunter but I'm also not a prey.

2nd Amendment good? Yes.

But the 2nd Amendment by itself is not the only thing the Monster of Megalomania have to fear.

It is through the act of Rebellion that those weapons are wielded that can be the Ultimate Power.

If we don't have weapons, We'll Make THEM!

It's the Resourcefulness of the Rebel that can not be stopped by Any Law, Leader, or God!

Great deduction Rick, and that's one of their favorite strategies:
"Nobody needs all this firepower or clip capacity for hunting!"
