I would take a nice crossbow and a lot of arrows.
For self defense I would take a 22 mag mouse.

Those bigger powered guns are bad but the majority of self defense takes place at close range.
A mouse is easy to carry and makes noise. 22 mag has stopping power when hitting the correct location. Plus it will hurt.
In the house for self defense a short barrel shotgun with buckshot covers a good spread area depending on the range.
