Seems to me this is a sound move with the proposed tax hike looming. I myself wouldn't want to pay a 55% tax regardless of any fact.

The poor do pay oodles of taxes they do not readily see.

With the recent article about banks having to follow reporting regulations of foriegn money in U.S. banks will drive out more money.
Following international regulations which they say cost a pittance for banks to do or was it planned by this administration to drive out money which the article explained in detail.

Why did they not put taxation uniform for each individual also. There was no federal tax until when? I forgot. Long after the constitution was signed that is for sure.
The gov't was mainly run on Duties, Imposts and Excises until that was not enough. So they went after the individual. Look it up.

I think prostitution in a resort area falls under the foriegn trade guidelines for taxation. Must be foriegners gettiin some so it must fall under import and export regulations.

Do people really not understand the difference between a total AMOUNT of tax paid and a tax RATE? How can any reasonable person think that a working billionaire pays less in total taxes than their own secretary?
Back to the article, it seems poor people also don't understand all of the jobs provided by the rich simply on the basis of maintaining their lifestyles. All the jobs that go into building (and maintaining) a house, a luxury car, or boat, or plane, or fine furniture. The nanny/housekeeper, gardener, driver, errand person, etc. Well, that could be a whole blog entry unto itself ...

everyone pays taxes.you can't do anything without paying some tax,sales,gas,property,etc..they are just saying to stop all the big loop holes,deductions for the wealthy,so they pay their fair share,the 1% ers,which i doubt are on this blog.
