Yes and now many of those who fled in the last 5 years are making the suburbs just as nasty as the place they left, part of Detroits problem was there were to many citizens who just didn't care, it was all about the handouts. The low income housing in my city looks like a war zone, cars on blocks, broken windows, people who don't have enough sense to use garabe cans.
People are now fleeing the surrounding suburbs to get away, The kids from the Detroit school system are almost 2 years behind, and they cause the most problems. I went to Detroit public schools and did just fine, I think the biggest problem is apathy on the part of teachers due to a lack of parental involvement.
Throwing money at Detroit will not solve the problem, corruption is to deeply rooted.
244 people were collecting salaries from the DPS and they didn't work there.

In the mean time, my property taxes have gone up again, my property value has dropped, I did everything the right way and because of others who were not willing to contribute have cost me. am I pisssssssed, you bet. I want to know what it is with so-called poor people, who can't keep windows or window treatments, always with the broken windows, ripped shades, missing slats on the blinds, rug, blankets, newspaper, holiday paper, towels, hanging in the windows, wtf, 27 years I never had a problem with windows. How does someone move into a house with nice window treatments and a year later looks like a hurricane went off in the house, and another thing, pick up that dog poo, no excuse, pay a neighbor kid to do it, that brings in the most vermin, I go to someones house and they got a dog, and I see flys walkin around the counter tops and tables, I ain't eating there.
No excuse for piling garbage up in the backyard, we do have trash removal.
