Northern Democrats voted 145 for and 9 against,Northern Republicans voted 138 for and 24
against.
In the Senate it passed 73 for and 27 against with 20 of the 21 Southern Democrats voting against its passage.Those 20 Southern Democrats became Republicans soon after.There was only 1 Southern Republican Senator at the time and that 1 voted against its passage.
Of the Northern Democrats 45 voted FOR its passage and Only 1 voted against it while of the 32 Northern Republicans 27 voted for its passage and 5 voted against the bill.
