The writer could have shortened that up quite a bit.
In fact he could have done it in one sentence:
"I'm a Democrat and I'm going to show you some silly charts and graphs I've created in the hope of getting you to vote for the candidate I like -- Barack Obama."

Ann Romney's was written at a 5th grade level because that is the comprehension level (OR BELOW) at which the GOP audience has any chance at all of understanding Who And What they are voting for or against.
Brain dead zombies like the Republican electorate have no way of comprehending or separating Truth from Fiction therefore they must be told in as simple a manner as possible why,as ordered,they must vote against Their Own Best Interests.
They simply find it impossible To Think For Themselves!
