It has in the past.
Those who voted for a presidental candidate on the ballot and lost to the opposition disliked the winner. They spend the next four years bitchin about the winner.

It's impossible to gauge the damage done to the dignity of the Presidency by all the hate Obama has for this country.
But we're going to take the first step in fixing it November 6th.
