Newt Gingrich talks about why he and his party were so wrong about the election

What the republicans need to do is have a fully staffed national election committee for all republican candidates. They need different committes for federal and state candidates. They need to move up to the 21st century on campaigning.
When a candidate is elected from the primaries the national committee needs to work with the candidates election committee.
This crap of an individual candidate setting up an election committee only a few months prior to an election does not cut it anymore.
Obama's election committee set a new precedent for campaigning. Old school campaigning does not cut it anymore.
Need candidates who are smart, articulate and likeable.
Republicans will NEVER gain the Presidency on their ideas alone because the vast majority of the American electorate disagree with them and they know it.
That is why they also will not agree to the national elections candidates for the Senate and President being decided by popular vote.
The candidate that gets the most votes for President nationwide wins.
Two senators per state means the 2 candidates in any state with the most votes wins the seat.
Democrats will win the residency every time and enough seats in the senate to over-ride any Republican controlled house passed legislation with their own.
Republicans suck and the vast majority of the electorate just proved it in November even though they tried to stop minorities from voting in many states.
