I watched some of the debate today. Mostly caught Durbins time speaaking.
Looks like they want the sales tax regulation to be a federal thing rather than the states scrambling to collect sales taxes across state lines.
Someone will end up being the sales tax police for nationwide collection.

Probably drive consumers back to local purchasing or drive to next county or state for lower sales tax.

Tax,tax, tax. The money that has no accountability.

This is so stupid. The stores around here don't stock what I need so I have to order it by mail or internet. When I do that I have to pay shipping. Shipping is more than the sales tax would be *IF* I could buy the stuff here. Now they want to tack the Michigan 6% sales tax on top of that! This makes real good sense because now I will have less money to buy food, gas and the things I can buy locally.

Yay, a payroll tax hike AND a sales tax hike all within a year!

They say they want to do it to "level the playing field"...well it will level the playing field the same way a Fat Man or Little Boy would level areas of Japan.

yet another law I don't recall 'we the people' coming up with and being in favor of....
It will never cease to amaze me how many laws get pushed to the front that never have support from us.

I wonder if Democrats EVER vote against tax increases. The only people who don't care are people who don't pay taxes. Unfortunately, there are lots and lots of those people, and their numbers are growing. I wish Democrats who vote for these tax increases would care to occasionally put their country before their urge for more power. If any sane person follows all this to its logical conclusion, a bunch of Democrats will be in charge of a pathetic third world country once it implodes from financial mismanagement.

Oh yeah, I forgot. "It can't happen." Right.
