I mention he was unarmed because the news report doesn't say he was armed so I assume he wasn't.

Which would be crazy in the Alaskan Wild.

You wouldn't catch me out there with anything less than a 44 Mag and a Big-Ass Bowie Knife.

A few years back 2001 a grizzly killed 3 people on separate attacks, once they taste human they consider it a meal. The bear was so big, one victim with a 38 didn't stop the attack, a ranger with a 338mag had to fire 10+ rounds to drop it.

Yeah, a Grizz you can usually empty whatever you got into him and if you don't hit anything vital, you just hope he bleeds out before he eats you alive.

This guy mighta had a chance to take out that Black Bear though if he was armed. Or the other person mighta been able to. That was a shame.

In Alaska you carry a powerful weapon, Bowie knife and a couple cans of mace when it get up close and personal.
