Oh my gosh, I was just looking at that very same vid last night! (great minds, huh?) I got in the mood f/ a little bluegrass and watched Foggy Mountain Breakdown w/ Earl Scruggs and a whole bunch of fairly famous musicians- Vince Gill, Marty Stuart< Leon Russell, even Steve Martin and Paul Schaffer from David -spit!- Letterman's show band, then I saw that in the suggested videos. After that, I did some reading about that guy who played the banjo player, plus some about the movie.

Thanks, Mike.
Steve Martin is a great banjo picker but I wish they'da left that little goof Shaffer out of the video. It was probably embarrassing for everybody else with him jumpin' around like a monkey like he was.

Yeah, not a fan of Shaffer. Used to love Letterman, started watching him when he was on in the mornings, then I'd hurry home to catch most of his late night talk show when I drilled eve. tour on rigs. I don't remember him being overly political, other than making equal opportunity jokes about pols, but it was about the time he got passed over f/ The Tonight Show gig that he turned into a bitter, unfunny hack, almost overnight. I haven't watched his show in yrs. and yrs.

I saw Martin in an Amarillo mall when he was up here in the Panhandle shooting some scenes for "Leap of Faith". He was w/ his wife about to enter a movie theater. There were some people around him wanting autographs, but he politely begged off, saying he just wanted to see a movie and it was about to start.
