What did she point out what I knew was wrong about poverty,
I have seen, read or experienced poverty on a personal level.
I thought she was going to disclose some earth shattering knowledge on the subject of poverty.

I would love to see other forum posters give there idea of poverty. I know how my life was growing up, in the 50's. My dad was a sharecropper, farming 50 acres. Just guessing, about 40 acres being cotton. I remember one year, after settling with the owner. He cleared $2500, you have to remember, $10,000 a year was a very good salary. At the same time, my mom worked in a textile mill. She brought home, after about $40 a week. We didn't have anything fancy, but I don't believe we lived in poverty. My idea of poverty is, no food, shelter or clothes. Every kid should have food and a bed to sleep. In the town, where I attended school, there was a hot dog stand. Once in a while, my mom would take me and my two younger brothers there for chili dogs. They were good and something different. Once we were there and my mom saw two young boys, maybe the oldest was 8 or so. Mom asked me if I knew them, I told her the oldest boy was a couple of grades behind me. She gave some money and told me to buy them some chili dogs. That was my mom, caring and sharing. Did I live in poverty, I don't think so.

I'm sorry you had to experience something that terrible. No one should have too.
