Well written article. I agree totally with the author. When it comes to the blame game, repubs are like a broken record. You know what they are going to say before they say it. They use the same gibberish each time.

Yep, this guy is very detailed with the main idea of his entry and describes what the parameters surrounding racism really are. I really like the following excerpt:

I suspect that somewhere down there in the Freudian precincts of their minds, the Byrd-invokers from Limbaugh on down know this, and it’s what they hate about Byrd most of all: The very sincerity of his repentance makes him a capitulator to the liberal elite and a traitor to his race. But they can’t say that in polite company, so they keep whipping a horse that’s been dead for at least 40 years.

The 'sincerity of his repentance' is where it's at. The man clearly knew where he was with all of his hatred and racism but, found it within himself to make it right...openly and with actions. I've said so many times that this is what plagues the Republican party. If one of 'em step ups and tries to do the right thing morally, the rest of 'em come down on them so hard that the individual has no choice but to bow down or they'll destroy his political career...his own people will.

This guy understands that blacks aren't racist and don't have the power to be racists as well. We cannot prevent anyone from doing anything...and haven't even remotely attempted to do so. White racists have been against blacks since the beginning of time and have opposed all things that would help blacks. MLK was refused a license to lawfully carry a firearm, the NRA pushed against blacks having firearms, the pushback for civil rights (equality), we couldn't drink at the same fountains, eat at the same places, pushed to the back of the bus, had to use different restrooms, and the list goes on, and on, and, and on. All this from white folks. White folks beat and hung (lynched) black folks, not the other way around.

Man, I could really work this over but, I'm sure you get my points, America.
