Powerball

There were no Powerball jackpot winners Saturday but 513,492 players across the nation won a total of more than $3.3 million in prizes in America's Game.

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $95 million.

The cash option for the Wednesday, November 24 drawing will be an estimated $51.9 million.

The numbers drawn were: 4, 29, 45, 48, 50 and the Powerball was 1. The Power Play multiplier was 2.

Three players correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $100,000. Their winning tickets were purchased in Delaware, Maine, and Vermont. One additional player in Tennessee not only matched that prize level but also played Power Play for a total win of $200,000.

Forty players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $5,000. Two additional winners of that prize category purchased the Power Play option, giving them a total win of $10,000.

More than 59,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 2 Saturday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased more than 21.8 million tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.

The lotteries sold more than $2.2 billion in Powerball tickets in FY2004. That translates into more than $660 million for worthwhile state projects.

I think this jackpot is just about right for my work pool to win.  About 75% of the employees in the office where I work are playing in the pool - would just love to sit back and watch what happens to the company if we win.  It would make a great story, or an even better movie!  I'd better get started on the screenplay right away!!!!

CASH Only

mrmst:

Assuming you play Powerball in DC, do you also play Hot Lotto?

If nobody wins now  to X-mas what will the jackpot be on December 25, 2004?  I hope there is a winner like that and not like the Ole' Jack in "02.  It would be a nice X-mas.  Heck, It would be a nice life, wouldn't it?

nitabug,

If the Powerball jackpot rolls until the Dec 25 draw, the jackpot will reach record territory. The Dec 25th draw will be the 19th roll. The jackpot has made it to $314.9 million in 16 rolls. If we assume it again reaches $315 million by the 16th roll, then the subsequent jackpots would be $340, $365 and $390 for the next three draws. This is because MUSL have implemented a new rule that limites the jackpot increase to $25 million per roll once the jackpot reaches a record level.

So IF the jackpot rolls 19 times and reaches the Dec 25th draw, then I predict the jackpot will be around $400 million.

Good luck,
Jake
