Mega Millions

The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery grew to $96 million Wednesday.

None of the tickets sold for Tuesday's $82 million drawing matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball.  The next drawing will be Friday.

There were eight second-prize winners from Tuesday night's drawing: from Massachusetts, 1 from Michigan, 1 from New Jersey, 2 from New York, 2 from Texas, and 1 from Virginia.  Each ticket matched all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number to win $175,000.

Also, 33 players matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number.  Those tickets are each worth $5,000.

The winning numbers from Tuesday's drawing were: 15, 18, 28, 41, and 45. The Mega Ball number was 27.

The Texas Megaplier was 4.

Mega Millions is played in Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Officials in California have announced plans to join the game later this year.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00pm Eastern Time.

Ok, this jackpot is just exactly ripe for the picking!  Now is the time to win before all the crazy stuff happens when it hits triple digits.

Don't get me wrong, I like the excitement of the 100+ million jackpots, it just means more work for me.  As soon as it hits 100, everybody in my office starts running to me with money in their hands begging me to run a special pool (in addition to the regular one we play all the time).  I use to just add them to the regualar pool but my regulars got tired of everyone jumping on the bandwagon and cutting into their cut of the jackpot if we won - so now I have to start up a separate pool when the jackpot gets high.  Of course all the regulars join in on the extra pool too - they wouldn't want to miss out.  Oh well, I guess more tickets is better!

mrmst the same thing use to happen where i worked we had a 10 person pool then the other people got angy becuse we wouldn't let any additional people in on that pool. Our 10 person pool was just right for us. So we started two seperate 10 member pools and everybody got cazy because if one pool won and not the other they there would be a lot of ill feelings towards the other group. One things for sure you can't please everybody. If we had a 20 or more member pool and won a 100 mil pot split up after taxes was not to everybody liking including me. I made a sugestion the if the pot was 200 mil plus that would be fine with me but there weren't too many of those times it was that high.

Some people are so desperate to win a pot with a pool that they could care less about the amount they won they just want to win any amount.

Ok, so I didn't win the $96 million, but the good news is that no one won.  Now the "fun" begins - it's Saturday morning and I've already been deludged with calls and emails from co-workers and friends wanting to know if I will run a special pool.  Well, I can't resist.  There is something cool about having hundreds of tickets to check, even if I only own a portion of the proceeds.
