Wyoming lottery being considered

Insider Buzz

An interim legislative committee is considering a measure that would let voters have a say on whether Wyoming should join the Powerball lottery.

The Joint Travel, Recreation and Wildlife Interim Committee decided Monday to wait to vote on the proposal to give the public time to review the idea and comment.

The ballot measure would be nonbinding, and the Legislature would not have to allow Powerball in the state.

Initial debate among committee members showed division on the idea.

"Why are we putting this out to the public when we were sent down here to make a decision?" Rep. Kermit Brown, R-Laramie, said.

Sen. Mike Massie, D-Laramie, said Powerball is a divisive issue with strong sentiments on both sides. If the people were given the chance to vote on it, they at least would know they had their say even if their side didn't win, he said.

I just hope they don't into it like North Dakota did (no scratch tickets).

ND could be soooo much better off if the changed a few rules.  WY I hope is smarter than that.

Yes, it passed the word censor also, but without such disastrous results!

CASH Only

Wyoming is Wydopen (wide-open).

I suggest a pick 4 straight game for their state lotto. It would give a game to play for all those whining about odds to play.

CASH Only

WY would make a good Hot Lotto state if the game lasts long enough.

LOTTOMIKE's avatarLOTTOMIKE

that would be a very good way to start.

CASH Only

Hot Lotto would make a nice fit in WY.
