Mega Millions lottery jackpot increases to $97 million

Mega MillionsMega Millions: Mega Millions lottery jackpot increases to $97 million

The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery grew to $97 million Wednesday.

None of the tickets sold for Tuesday's $84 million drawing matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball. The next drawing will be Friday.

There were 17 second-prize winners from Tuesday night's drawing: 5 from Georgia, 5 from Illinois, 1 from Maryland, 1 from Michigan, 1 from New Jersey, 1 from Ohio, 2 from Virginia, and 1 from Washington.  Each ticket matched all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number to win $250,000.

Also, 35 players matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number.  Those tickets are each worth $10,000.

The winning numbers from Tuesday's drawing were: 6, 7, 8, 13, and 40.  The Mega Ball number was 12.

The Texas Megaplier was 4.

However, CA's prizes are pari-mutuel. 3 of the 35 tickets that hit 4 numbers plus the Mega Ball were hit in CA. Those tickets won over $16K which was a fair deal. I was surprised that both NY and CA didn't have a single ticket hitting just 5 numbers.

I am thinking that this is going to be the run that sets the new record for mega millions.  I am hoping for another month goes by and we are still talking about this same run we should be above the record by then.  I can always dream.

I agree. I hope that MM goes on the record run. Then MM hits 363+ million [Annunity] and pass the North American jackpot history. Then one ticket wins the largest North American jackpot record.

For MM to clear 300 or get close to it no one has to win the next six drawings. No way is it going past the 20th.

It seems like it would need a few more than 6 to hit or surpass 300.... 6 rolls and it would prob be at 200. I would go insane if I happened to have the largest single winning ticket prize in the world... I would prob enter the witness protection program... taking my winnings with me over 26 years, of course.

$100m to $200m has always taken 4 rolls.  So the jackpot will be $205-$215 million if no one wins on September 6th, less than two weeks away.  I predict that the September 16th drawing could be in the mid-$300,000,000's.

I won $2. Woohoo! Covered the two I spent on it, or rather the two I'll spend on the next one. Go me.

Had I played the 30 lines I couldn't play because the terminal was down and it was too late to look for another one before 10:45 PM, I would have matched 3+0 for $7 and 0+1 for $2.  I don't know if I should be happy that I saved $30 a future drawing or sad that I missed a chance to win $9 for $30.

According to some of Cash Only posts, he has also been concerned about the K-I-C-K-E-R game in Ohio.  He wanted it discontinued even though he had never bought an Ohio lottery ticket.  Recently Ohio decided to end the Ohio Super Lotto game and continue the Kicker game on the MegaMillions ticket.  Maybe he will have better luck with the State of Connecticut.

Congrats on your win!  What combination of matches got you the $300?  How much did you spend?

Last night I got another chance to play MM and I went early just in case I had to find another place to play.  I played 25 lines and matched 3+0  and 0+1 for $9. I'm not coming out ahead money wise, but I'm ahead of the odds and you have to beat the odds to win.
