Three players win $1 million Power Play prizes

The Powerball jackpot continues to get bigger and bigger.  No one hit the jackpot Saturday, but 3 winning tickets in Missouri (1), and Pennsylvania (2) each won $1 million with the Power Play option. In total, 472,732 players across the nation won more than $7.7 million in prizes in "America's Game".

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $61 million.

The cash option for the Wednesday, May 3rd drawing will be an estimated $27 million.

The numbers drawn Saturday were 19, 30, 35, 40, 41, and the Powerball was 14. The Power Play multiplier was 5.

Three players correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $200,000. Their winning tickets were purchased in Arizona (2), Minnesota (1), and Wisconsin (1). The three lucky players in Missouri (1), and Pennsylvania (2) who matched 5 also wisely purchased the Power Play option and multiplied the $200,000 prize by 5 for a total win of $1 million.

Twenty-four players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Five additional winners at that prize level also purchased the Power Play option multiplying their winnings 5 times for a total of $50,000.

More than 90,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 5 Saturday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings by 2-5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased more than $19.9 million in tickets between Wednesday and Saturday night. The lotteries have sold more than $2.4 billion in Powerball tickets so far in fiscal year 2006. That translates into approximately $700 million for worthwhile state projects.

The news release said there were three $200,000 winners (not including PowerPlay) but I counted FOUR such winners (2+1+1.) Maybe I need to read it again.

I have a problem with the MO winning tickets. It seem like every time a large amount is won, they purchased the ticket at the retailer where they worked.

Makes a person wonder. I wrote to the MO lottery office and they say they have no rules regarding purchasing a ticket where you work.

All I can say is, hhhmmmm..!!!

Sounds like you have a problem with someone else besides yourself winning big.

People who work at stores selling Hoosier Lottery tickets can play, but only at another store.
