Largest Powerball jackpot in more than a year
By Todd Northrop
There was no jackpot winner in the Saturday night drawing of the multi-state Powerball game, causing the grand prize to increase to an estimated $245 million for Wednesday's drawing.
Saturday was the 13th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner.
The estimated cash value for the new jackpot is $146.2 million. After-tax cash and annuity prize amounts are reported state-by-state at USA Mega, a web site devoted to the Powerball and Mega Millions multi-state lottery games.
Players should note that jackpot amounts are conservative estimates provided by the lotteries, and are often somewhat higher by the time the drawing occurs.
Even though there were no jackpot winners, 12 lucky tickets matched the first five numbers for a $200,000 second-place prize: 3 from Florida, 1 from Kentucky, 1 from Louisiana, 1 from Massachusetts, 1 from New Jersey, 1 from New Mexico, 2 from New York, 1 from Oregon, and 1 from Pennsylvania.
The second prize ticket sold in Louisiana was purchased with the Power Play option, multiplying the prize to a sizeable $1 million.
64 tickets matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Of those tickets, 7 also were purchased with the Power Play option, multiplying the prize by 5 for a total cash prize of $50,000.
The Powerball winning numbers for Saturday, October 29, were 11, 16, 40, 51, and 56, with Powerball number 38. The Power Play number was 5.
Wednesday's drawing will be the largest Powerball jackpot in more than 16 months. On June 2, 2010, one Powerball ticket sold in Ohio won a $261.6 million Powerball jackpot, and the the winner claimed the prize anonymously.
When a Powerball ticket is purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1 per ticket, any non-jackpot prize is multiplied from 2-5 times, depending on a computerized random number generated that evening. Second-place Power Play-enabled tickets matching five numbers but not the Powerball are always multiplied by 5 times, for a $1 million prize.
Powerball is now played in 42 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Powerball lottery results are published within minutes of the drawing at USA Mega.

Giddy Up
Good Luck All
Yah - Hooo, now 245 is my Lucky number.
Good luck Maddog10! But I'm hoping my number comes up instead!
I would love to win the Mega or Powerball with one of my groups. Plus being a member of Lottery Post would certainly give it more promotion.
Wednesday can't come soon enough.

Am picking numbers already, good luck everyone.
Ladies and gentlemen...
It's Hammer Time.
Bout to win this 100 million dollars after taxes. That would get me and my family straight for life.
I just recently discovered the jackpot analysis feature on USA Mega. Now, I know that I can expect to walk away with about $100,878,000 in cash after state and federal taxes when I win this thing on Wednesday. Thank you for the useful information, Todd. Okay, so I'm a little slow on the uptake....
Let's cash some tickets!
Your milage may vary but its my understanding that at minimum 33%-35% is taken by the Govt, unless you know how to give much to charity and cover the rest thru investments. I personally only invest in family and local causes.
The jackpot will continue to rise as I see no reason for them to not pocket more money til the New Upcharge goes into effect in January.
My theory is this...some ole lady (hint: myself), will be out in a snow storm to get some milk...I'll scramble to find change stuck in one of the back seats...go get a $1 qp and it will be the winner. So invest in the milk industry :)
UGH! My dog ate my fortune from my fortune cookie which said "To Lotto or not. That is the question." I was going to use the numbers from the back, of which I remember 38, which I was going to use as the PB and a few of the others I think were in it, but not all. I would have won some money instead of none because of my hesitation!
Anixon11- This is enough money to make my wife and I, my adult children, my grand kids, and their kids straight for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol
That was a funny one Gamegirl...lol
With that kind of money, I can buy a Bugatti, Royce, Bentley, Ferrari a private jet and invest many millions. Imagine I won that. Oh man just the thought of winning it only makes me feel good. But God is good. It ain't impossible for me to win. I don't mind sharing the jackpot with two or three people. The excitement is rising. Let it roll two more times
No, This is coming to Brooklyn, New York. Sorry bro better luck next times
I dunno Sean, I'm confident some of that dough is drifting to Rochester, Come on!!!
M
Matter of fact, I hope we both win it. I really don't mind sharing the jackpot with other winners. You never know. It can happen as long as you bought a couple of ticket and believe in it.
I wouldn't mind sharing either. I run a few group lotteries. It's nice to share.. Good luck to all.
HEHEHEHE GOOD DOGGIE !!!
Thanks man. Remember eventhough you don't this time, it doesn't matter because the game goes on and the dream stay alive.
Its enough money to buy a small ranch and hire a bunch of workers then live a quiet life till amageddon or the big one that will wipeout humanity.
I would love to win that. Good luck guys.
Winning all this money i would become a billionaire one day. i wouldn't just sit around all day spending money and having too much freetime. Invest in businesses and own your own companies.
$1 for $93.5 million after taxes!
Good Luck Everyone!
New York first Powerball jackpot was won with A SINGLE LINE. The person played $1 QUICK PICK. Good Luck everybody. "IMAGINATION IS A PREVIEW OF LIFE'S COMING ATTRACTIONS". I IMAGINE MYSELF WINNING A LOTTERY JACKPOT SOME DAY.
The Mayan Calendar says the world is going to end December 21st of next year, so why invest? Party like a wild man gone insane!
Here I thought I was going to win last night... Bought a quick pick and it had the same numbers I have played for 20 years. That will never happen again.
Anyway, my one quick pick is in hand for wednesday. Good luck to all. May your dream come true.
Every single state around California (except Nevada) plays Powerball. How come I can't play Powerball?!
I'm really startin' to feel left out here.
Maybe I should drive (8 hours) to Arizona and play a few... hundred.
Maybe if no one wins on Wednesday I'll actually do it.
Does this mean that your dog is papertrained

C'mon be realistic...$100 Million is barely enough for one person.
(At least that's what the "Lottery Curse" would have you believe....I mean after you buy that $20 Million mansion and a vacation home for another $10 million....then develop a $20,000 a week drug habit...and the new "wife" takes half in the divorce you will barely have a couple of Million! HAHAHA Just kidding Good Luck and Dream Big! Boy the hellacious party I could have with $100 Million.....I wonder if I called Jim Beam could I get a bulk price on some barrels of Bourbon?? LOL.... And it's Party Time!
The answer to the "Lottery Curse" is anonymity. Hire a lawyer and use a blind trust if your state will allow it. Some state lottery officials "say" you can't be anonymous, but their state law may say otherwise. Fight to remain anonymous. Live in an enclosed community. If you can't collect your winnings anonymously, then you really are set to receive the Lottery Curse. One answer to the Lottery Curse if you can't remain anonymous is to... become a lawyer. Yes, that's right. If you can't bet 'em, join 'em. Defending yourself would be free and no one would mess with you. As to any future wives, the prenuptial is your answer.
I'M wishing it going to be my group I'm in. Small town USA wins big Jackpot..It's a long shot,50.00 dollars worth of tickets with power play. But at least we have a chance to win, that's all it will take to hit it big...A CHANCE....LUCK TOO!
Remember,if you don't play, you will never have a chance to win it. Going to be big tickets sales in all the states that sell POWERBALL...
To me their is no lottery curse cause if you read the stories about the people who got into trouble and did drugs and other stuff. where already doing those things or have before and where just overall bad people. or tried to live big and out of their lifestyle
Basically if your a drunk and a drug user then youll do more drugs and drink more if all you do is fish and watch football likely you wont start drinking and doing drugs and living at strip clubs. so all money does is inhaces what you already do or dont do.
so if you have some kinda plan and consult a lawyer when you win and keep a account youll be fine and be your self.
Some drunks are cool.
Not General Grant though.
He was a nasty drunk.
Some times decent peple who come into a lot of money suddenly attract bad people and if they hang around them long enough they will become just like them if they're not already.
"How come I can't play Powerball?!
"
Governor Moonbeam is waiting for the precise optimal Planetary alignment.
And the go-ahead from Linda Ronstadt.
Well the jackpot is coming to mcminnville oregon home of the sprucegoose. I will be glad to accept this jackpot and take home the winnings for myself. No need to cry their is always another pot in a few months to claim. So relax and let me have this one off your hands.-weshar75
I hope you win weshar and I ask absolutely nothing in return if you do except for ten million dollars.
Tax free.
This is so true! There are moochers out there who will manipulate you until you are drained of money and then they disappear. You've got to learn to say no and mean it. Along with a very good team consisting of an estate atty, a CPA, and a Financial Advisor, I would add an assertiveness training class.
This sure would be a nice jackpot to bring home. Lots of good things could be done with that money for my family and for our fave charities. I believe I am up for that challenge! Come on jackpot!
After getting the first 3 numbers exact...I just knew I had won the Powerball!lol
LOL. Are you in for a let down.
